hi
i know that we have not been able to trace my 3 xgreat grandfather
william russell
i have had someone that has burials for the areas i was looking at
its now been suggested he died at sea or somewhere other than seaton & beer devon
this is the poss explanation as my wiilliam was a fisherman
would anyone know if there were newspapers between 1841 & 1854 for seaton & beer devon that could have reported his death

http://www.devon.gov.uk/index/councildemocracy/record_office/record_offices_in_devon.htm

Try the above link to the Devon records office, doesn't look like the parish records are all on-line, you may need a search of the parish registers to locate a burial. The records office has burials for Seaton & Beer 1584-1999 and for Colyton 1538-1984. LDS have filmed the Seaton & Beer transcripts but not all have been put on their database.

The records office has a research facility if you can't find anyone local to do a look-up.

David, please stop starting new threads about the same thing.

It is the rule. Do not post the same person/family more than once.

People just spend time looking up the same things over and over again.

You say: "a member found that for me "

Well, if you had stuck to the same thread, everyone would have seen that information, and not gone looking for it again.

William had already died by then - she was a widow on th 1851 census. His death is probably this one (only one in the 10 year period), I think it's the age that proves the certificate David has is the wrong one.

Just had a thought.......William may not be going to sea anymore and gone back to a trade he had when young of Shoemaker????

Don't forget most people in those years could'nt read or write or even celbrate birthdays. Most of them could'nt remember when they were born!! and it's only the info they are given at the time of death that is written down.
