And another chuckle from this thread.

Hernia? Well, Henia, anyway. ;)

And the pronunciation does fit with that ThomasHina - if she too was called 'Ina.

You're quite welcome!

Hello Janey.

You Deserve a Medal,
This is to Jax as well!

I have heard from Tees side Valley Indexes... Yes Thomasina 1907 is the Daughter of Charles Tonkinson Pyle & Maryann Dodsworth...This is the Child mistranscribed as Hernia`

Thank you so very much for all your help & patience
Kind Regards.
Linda.

This could be Eva's death:

Name: Eva Snaith
Birth Date: Sep 1908
Death Registration Month/Year: Mar 1988
Age at death (estimated): 79
Registration district: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Inferred County: Tyne and Wear
Volume: 2
Page: 925

I wouldn't worry too much about the Thomasina 1907, but it will be interesting to see whether she turns out to be Henia. ;)

For wildcard searches in 1911, remember to click Advanced down at the bottom, and then select "starts with" (Thom) or "wildcard search" (Thom*a).

Janey / Jax

I don`t know how I missed this Marriage but thank you both for not abandoning me on this score.

Jax
so that is how you do the name on 1911, I will remember that one.

The more I think on that `Hernia` it does sound like Ena / Ina.

Fingers crossed I hope to hear from the Tees valley tomorrow
about the Birth of Thomasina 1907 middlesbrough.

I truly Thank you for all your help.

Linda.

Births Dec 1908
Snaith Eva Maud Sunderland 10a 775

Can't find a marriage. (The Eva EM Snaith who married in 1921 was Eva Eleanor Maud born 1895.)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 19 Dec 2010 23:58

Looks good.

Ethel Maud was the name of our of "our" Thomasina's sisters, so it makes sense that one of her siblings named a daughter after her.

Silly of us, not to look for a ThomasHina. ;) (Kind of goes with Henia, don't it?)

No more births to the Snaith-Pyle couple, it seems. Unless:

Births Jun 1916
Snaith Female Pile Houghton le Spring 10a 1018

No Snaith-Pile marriage. But unfortunately, given the way the birth was registered:

Deaths Jun 1916
Snaith Female 0 Houghton 10a 577

Hello JaneyCanuck

I have been for the obituary of Thomasina Pyle 1958 Northumberland C.
She is definately not my relative..But the Daughter of James & Isobel Pyle
Which you found earlier.
I have sent the Obituary on to the other GR member, so all that information has`not been wasted!

Any how I found a Marriage for the following person. but who was the Groom?

Marriages Dec 1906
Newcastle upon Tyne.

ABERCROMBIE Joseph
Little Isabella
PYLE Thomashina Goodall
SNAITH Maddison

What do you think?
Update!

Just looked on 1911 freesearch and found the couple;

SNAITH MADDISON M 1874 37 Sunderland
SNAITH THOMASHINA F 1875 36 Sunderland Durham

I now need a 1911 census Lookup on this couple Please!

kind regards
Linda.

Hello Janey
I have made a second request to Teesside valley on the above birth of Thomasina. but put Charles T and Mary Ann Dodsworth as her Parents
this time........Tees side valley Indexes is in Middlesbrough so fingers crossed we have a result.

Your research on the other Thomasina Pyle of Bebside Northumberland has not gone to waste I sent the information onto the GR Member who I contacted.she did`nt have the 1911 census on this lady. Also her Thomasina never married too!...very strange!!

I found Moorlands (hall) it is tucked right back off Gosforth high street it is a very nice property.

I shall be back with any information as soon as I get some!

Thank you for all your help
Regards
Linda.

I think our bet is that she's Henia, daughter of Charles Pyle, unfortunately, but it will be interetsting to know the answer. ;)

Hello Janey n all.
Just an update;

I have heard from the GR member about that Death of Thomasina of 1958. She does have that information but does`nt know if it is her relative or not.
I will try and get to the library on Sunday as at the moment the town is very busy and the bus I need is running really slow.

I have also got in contact via Email to Teesside Valley Indexes to confirm if the child Thomasina born 1907 is the Daughter of Thomasina Goodall pyle snr. I won`t get an answer till Monday/ tuesday.

Linda.

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Dec 2010 21:58

Aha, her Thomasina is the one I was mistakenly following myself back on page 1. We've got them sorted now, anyhow!

And drat, it is possible that the death is the other one, too. There's no marriage for either one.

Fully refreshed, not quite. Ordinarily I sleep half the weekend away, but this week in the lead-up to the holidays and the guv'mint piling on the work before it leaves, I may only get 1/4 the weekend to sleep. ;)

Cynthia ... Effel ... I love it. ;)

Oops, we shouldn't laugh maybe -- search for the name at FreeBMD -- Effela was a popular name in some quarters, along with the oft-mistranscribed Effelenda/Effelinda (Effelenslo!). ... Which of course is Effelinder in at least one case. Oh dear, how about Effeldipha (and Effeldiphar for it too)? But by the time we get to 1890 and start finding Effel-s ... mm hmm. ;)

Hello everyone

I recieved an answer off the GR member and this is what she said.

Sorry we dont have a match - thought Thomasina Pyle was quite a unique name but my Thomasina was the daughter of James Miller Pyle and Isabella Forster and she was born 1872 Bebside Northumberland

I went on and sent the Death of thomasina 1958 Northumberland to ask if that was her relative too
waiting for a reply.

Mind you all work like little Bees haha.

Janey I hope you are fully refreshed from yesterday.??

Still very grateful for all your help

very much appreciated
Linda
