I'd slow down if I were you. More than one James married an Ellen. |

Ellen's father was Frederick Charles but on some of the records he is Frederick William Charles which makes things REALLY confusing. Ellen's grandfather was Frederick William James too. |

So was Ellen's father not Frederick Charles then ? ( as seen on 1911 census) |

Cagsie that is it I think because I know that Frederick's father was called William James and it puts them in the right area. Wish they wouldnt call themselves names all so similar makes it soooooo confusing! |

Sorry if I seem a bit thick but does this mean Edwin Brown and Amelia Wood were witnesses? I am really shocked to see they may have married in Dorchester - how curious |

|
cagsie | Report | 29 Dec 2010 18:11 |
it would mean they died as infants, being born and deceased inbetween the census years |

Ryswick23 | Report | 29 Dec 2010 18:09 |
I knew there were 9 children in total and one boy called John died but I wasnt aware there were anymore who died. I have never seen any others listed on earlier census. |

Gosh does that mean that 3 children died? |

|
cagsie | Report | 29 Dec 2010 18:01 |
1911 says 10 of 13 children were still alive |

Thank you everyone. Mike that is quite interesting because I seem to remember my mother telling me she was evacuated to her aunt Ellen (or Nell as they called her) and she lived in Sussex. I will have to check it with her and see if this jogs her memory ie the husbands name. |
