Hi,

I have now received the marriage certificate of Henry Alfred Leney and Sylvia Jessie Rust, 31/3/1951. It shows the fathers to be Edward Albert Rust and Henry William Leney.

On the certificate it states that the age of Henry is 28 and Sylvia is 22, would i be right to assume that this is the same Henry Alfred Leney that was born 22/10/1922 in West Ham?

If someone could help or confirm this I would be very grateful,

From what I remember it seemed to be the only likely one. Given the dates, 28 would be the right age for Henry..

Let me know when you get the marriage cert of Sylvia's parents so we can work out which of the two Edward Albert Rusts is her dad (they had differently named fathers in census 1911)

Having trouble identifying Henry William Leney in census 1911 - the only Henry William seems too old .

You might need to get hold of the marriage below to get age and parentage of Henry William and be certain of tracing the right line:

Forgot to say that as well as Alfred being the right age for the 1922 West Ham birth, Alfred's father Henry William has the right name and middle initial for the father of that child.

We know the mother's maiden name was Tristram, and Ethel Tristram married Henry W Leney in West Ham in 1911, so that all fits, and you do have the right birth for Alfred.

Did the marriage cert say what Alfred's dad did for a living?

Does your boyfriend or his family have any recollections that might help?

Could this be Henry W's death? Was he deceased on Alfred's marriage cert?

This would give him a birth date of c1882, if it's the right person, and the age on the death cert is accurate.
