Great call Mike, I will look into this. I know that her Uncle and aunt both lived and worked in the sanitorium in Frimley also known as Brompton. This was a place where they treated such cases as TB.I believe this was where Isobel was raised!

Any result yet on if Isabel had a middle name

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 4 Jan 2011 23:47

I wonder if this could be Isabel's birth (as already posted by Shirley):-

Name: Isabella F Davis
Year of Registration: 1909
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Epsom
County: Surrey
Volume: 2a
Page: 36A

I looked for births of any Davis in 1909 because this looks like her step or half sister's birth (with mother's maiden name given as Davis):-

Name: Charlotte Neal
Year of Registration: 1915
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Mother's Maiden Name: Davis
District: Epsom
County: Surrey
Volume: 2a

Hi Cathleen. That looks like a great bit of Info. I have just discovered more new information for every one lol. It looks as though Isobel son James Pratt later in life changed his surname to DAVIS. There has never been an apparent reason for this..........maybe until now?!! :p

This is all a mind blowing set of information guys lol

Thanks for the info Kathleen :)

Mike,

I'd say that looks a good bet for Isabella's parent's marriage.

Adam,

If I was you I would buy the birth certificate for Isabella F. Davis and see if her mother's first name was Clara Jane.

So it looks as if JANE could be the mother of my great grans Isabel. and Isabel is the correct spelling. This is all adding up to be a very interesting story lol. There seems to be plenty of cover ups!!!!! Wish I had more information. But Her son died a few years ago. Myself and my family have never known him. Her daughter Ann is ageing. I have also never known her. Though she has written the odd christmas card to my mother. This is where I have collected most of my information.
Thanks so much for the good work guys.

If there is anymore information you can find that will help me peice together and confirm all of these new details posted today, I would be thankful.

It looks as though Jane clara Davis Had two daughters out of wedlock. Sometime in her life Jane marries or changes her name to ticknor. To hide the fact her daughters were born out of wedlock she later changes her daughters status from daughter to niece. Further more we know she has changed the age of Keziah to 1 year younger. and later the spelling of the name, where the H in her name is removed.......I believe this to be Liza. It also looks as if the dates of Isabel's age have been changed over the years for various reasons. This is the probable reason as to why it has been so hard to find any solid facts about her life.

An interesting story for me at the least!

I think that when the original 1911 census had been completed the person made an error and wrote the relationship the children had with with Jane

however it is possible this was altered to show they were neices of the head of house; John Brown

suggesting that it is possible that either John Brown or his wife Pheobe are the sibling of either Clara Jane or her husband Henry Ticknor
