Find Ancestors

If the Douglas Leuty who married Annie Cann is the right one, then a service record for his earlier service (1893-1911) is on Ancestry in the WW1 Pension Records. Usually when you find an earlier record like this, it is attached to their WW1 service record, but this is either not there or lost in Ancestry's indexing!!!!! This record is indexed as LENTY.
Unfortunately it is quite a dark print, so it is difficult to ready his place of birth, though it looks like it may be Kennington, certainly then London, Surrey.
His age is given as 20 years and 10 months (as at Jan 1893) although further on it says 20 years --- months!!
His original NoK was given as his mother Elizabeth. but later changed to Wife. Their marriage is shown, along with details of what looks like about eight children, though again, owing to the dark print these are almost unreadable. However, if you think this may be the correct man, you may be able to recognise the names against what you already know.

You won't find any Army records on the National Archives website. All surviving Army records for those discharged up to 1913 are on the FindMyPast website.

Reading through what has been posted whilst I was away searching, I think the service record I found on Ancestry, filed under Lenty is the right one.

The records show he was posted at home between 1893 and 1905

In Malta between 1905 and 1907

Home between 1907 and 1910

Ceylon September 1910 to April 1911

Home April to May 1911

1893 - 1905 = Home
1905 - 1907 = Malta
1907 - 1910 = Home
1910 - 1911 = Ceylon (now Sri Lanka, then part of British India)
1911 - 1911 = Home

There are various details of his service - promotions, regiments, etc - as well as possibly confirming all those kids, so certainly worth taking a look.

Just a few personal details to help you build up a picture (if you don't have any)

On enlistment he was described as
5' 5" tall
107lb in weight
Chest 34" - 36" fully expanded
Complexion - sallow
Eyes - hazel
Hair - dark brown
Religion - C of E

Small scar on forehead
Dot tattoo'd on left forearm

He was enlisted into the 2nd North Stafford Regiment

Took a quick look at the 1911 Census (free search, as I don't have full access).

Although Douglas was probably still serving elsewhere, there is an Annie Leuty at Farnham District, along with her are these children (with DoB):
Douglas (1894), Cyril (1901), Violet (1901) Basil (1903), Wilfrid Ronald (1905), Arthur (1907) and Bernard (1908)
Now with that list, I can recognise Cyril, Violet, Basil and Wilfrid Ronald through the gloom on the NoK page.

Douglas is listed as being home from 16th April 1911 and the census in 1911 was taken on 2nd April so Douglas was probably on a ship at the time on his way back from Ceylon!!
