I have a Cecilia Connor formerley Cosgrove - no date of birth but in 1904 she gave birth to a son John Leo Connor 21.10 .1904 Ashton under Lyne. She was married to a William Connor born 1869/ 1870 . I have no idea where she came from or when she died but we think she was Williams first wife as he later married again in 1905 to a Sarah Connor. William lived until 1940 but no trace of Cecilia - any help gratefully received . Thanks

Sarah Connor died 12 April 1935 from 105 Lees Rd Mossley age 65. William Connor was her husband at time and informant of death .William was a general labourer on his sons birth cert. and a textile labourer on Sarahs death cert .Reads William Connor on gravestone and wife Sarah . No mention of Cecili/Celia anywhere.

Jayne

Jayne Report 11 Jan 2011 21:42

O Connor !! how can that be - thats them though . William , Cecilia John Leo and I forgot they had a girl Maggie ! Could it be a mistake on the census and they put O connor instead of Connor ...?

Jayne

Jayne Report 11 Jan 2011 21:47

hang on - Margaret would have been on the 1901 census ....

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 11 Jan 2011 21:48

It's very clear -(the O'). Just one of those things,I guess....

So he wasn't married to Sarah by 1911 then?

Maureen can I ask your advise please ? Would Maggie have been living with the family in 101Lees Rd or might they just have been looking after her for the day ? I dont know how these census work

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 11 Jan 2011 22:02

It looks to me as though they were just looking after her while her mother was away (heaven knows where!!!).
