I searched the births and deaths 1866, Mary E M Willey and Matilda E M Willey born April 1866 died soon after., they were shown on the same page for births but consecutive pages for deaths, could be the same child ? So that couldn't be my Matilda. Now off for another search for Matildas born around that time. Thanks Sylvia I have been looking at Esrom and his family. I'll investigate Matilda Willey born 1868 now, maybe she's mine.

Hi Ann not gone to bed yet. I went back to the birth registration ,to pick up the page details , for Matilda E M Willey born June Qtr 1866 Chard which was 5c 523 and above her which I hadn't noticed was Mary E M Willey same page 5C 523.!!!!!!! Twins? now going to look for Mary E M deaths and marriages etc: but that will have to wait until tomorrow it's late enough now.
