Find Ancestors

Good evening, I guess as no one other than Chris has come back to me that it is going to be difficult to discover what happened to Thomas after he left the workhouse in Watford or for that matter John as I am unable to find him on 1841 census or his parents John and Mary Ann Bond. If there is anyone who can advise how to find them would be extremely grateful.

Hekp me find Thomas and John

Hi, I have discovered a little more about the Bond family, but still require some help from you good people.

1871 Frederick and Nathan were in the Workhouse in Watford, I also found their older brother Thomas Charles (written as Charles Thomas on the 1861 census). I know that both Frederick and Nathan joined the army when they were 15. Did Thomas do the same as I am unable to find any trace of him after 1871. I would appreciate help with this.

I would also like to discover more about John Daniels Bond born 1821/22 in Southwark London as I cannot find him pre 1851.

Why is the Bond family so elusive, going crosseyed looking through lists but hopefully will get there!!

Not certain, think I have found the marriage of Maria Louisa BOND born 1848 to either a John Baker or Joseph Mennier in 1877 in Chelsea.

Hi, back from town, spent more than I should have.

Just re-read your post, noticed that when Henry was baptised in 1864 John Snr was in the workhouse. Thought my father's side of the family had a history: 4 of my paternal Great Grandfather's children were abandoned in a park and discovered by gypsies and taken to the local police station then to an orphanage. These 4 were scattered around England presumably put into service.

Going back to the 1911 census as posted here, The wife of William Lane was Louisa Elizabeth Bond. So Frederick and his brother Nathan are living with his daughter and her husband.

Thanks Vera, must have missed them both in 1871, Frederick joined the army as 15 and Nathan obviously followed his brother as they stayed close for the rest of their lives. Were they the sole survivors of the family??
