Hi Geoffrey

When where you born ? can you give us your birth name and the year, then we can work forwards after your birth.

Sheila

Sheila Report 19 Feb 2011 01:04

Hi Again

I see you have Edie siblings in your tree also, did she not have contact with any of them after your birth ?

I really do not see the point of asking Geoffrey his personal details which is also not advisable to display on the boards and should be deleted.

I understand your mother would be 90 but as I say she could still be alive or died in the last 5 years in which case those records are not available to view

Jax

The point of asking was to see what time your looking at, also to make sure that his mother was not married at the time of his brith, he would not be the first baby to be adopted as the result of an affair.
No sign of a death of CWGC.
Also no sign of a marrige for Edie after your birth.

thanks Jax - as was wondering how much to say on here - can I delete some of this? I will have a look. could I ask Sheila have you looked at my tree or did you just get info from what I said. you said you see I have Edie's Siblings in my tree.
re death info - it may well be the case that she passed away since 2005. so may not be able to find. I will keep searching Marriage records I think (for those surnames found in death records) on here. I will also try to contact relatives in UK . Any other thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

Geoffrey

Best to delete your personal details, no I do not have access to your tree, just worked out who Edie siblings are and checked in their on any trees on here, you matched all of them, sent you and email, reg poss marriage tho cannot be sure if it is her.

jax Report 19 Feb 2011 01:35

If you just go to the post with your birth details you will see the word delete just along from your name or you can edit the details out if you prefer by clicking on edit

thanks Shiela. I think the name is a problem as may have used Edith or Edie. she was known as Bet. elizabeth being her middle name so could she have Elizabeth on her marriage cert.? I would think you would have to use name on birth certificate.

My other half has two fit and healthy 86 year old parents my gran lived to 91 so yes there is a chance she has died but there is also one that she has'nt

I'd echo that Jax
OH has parents of 93 and soon-to-be-90, who are still very much 'with it'.

Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule about names on certificates.
We have examples of someone marrying in her 'known as' name, which is a shortened form of her birth given forename.

it would make it so much easier if you could get the year of birth on Free Marriage Certificates (the ones on here) I will send for certificate re marriage in 1941 to Vickerie (thanks Sheila). Is there anyway of looking up divorces? probably a silly question.
thanks everybody once again it has been so good to have got the info and ideas to move forward.

jax

jax Report 19 Feb 2011 04:14

There is no free marriage certificates on here its is the same as

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

The only marriage certs that can be viewed are on ancestry in London up until 1921

I think the only divorces online are pre 1935 ish

If that is Edith her husband was born 1919 and died in 2005 in surrey

Geoffrey Report 19 Feb 2011 04:37

thanks jax all good info
I really meant the Marriage records.- (not certificates as stated) As the death record has the persons date of birth and was really disappointed that the marriage record didnt at least show the year of birth as this would obviously narrow things down. alas life wasnt meant to be easy!.

Geoffrey Report 19 Feb 2011 04:45

Can you find any further info on Mr Vickery? like first name? thanks again Jax!

jax

jax Report 19 Feb 2011 04:49

Name: Rupert Vickery
Birth Date: 8 Apr 1919
Death Registration Month/Year: Oct 2005
Age at death (estimated): 86
Registration district: West Surrey
Inferred County: Surrey
Register number: A20B
District and Subdistrict: 761/1A

If your Edith was still married to him she would be listed as wife on cert I would think

jax

jax Report 19 Feb 2011 05:01

There looks like a son from this marriage born 1948 do you think that would be correct? if so I will pm the details

Maybe wait till you get the cert but I found a grandson of this couple on a recent electrol roll but I dont have access to the address

jax

Geoffrey

Geoffrey Report 19 Feb 2011 05:31

I am unsure really. but maybe worth getting details if that is ok with you. thanks

Geoffrey

Geoffrey Report 19 Feb 2011 11:13

I have now found out from a relative that Edie Clark married someone called Les Killick. I did a search and found the record of a marriage between Leslie A Killick and Elizabeth E Clark. No wonder details of a marriage were difficult to find. they were married in Ilford in 1952. have no other details. so if anyone can find out more that would be great.

Will check my elec roll for you, but not sure on this one unless it is the son of Elitabeth as she would be in her 80s now.
