I don't know if anyone could help me please, but I am trying to trace birth records for three people - Eliza, James and Frederick - as per the below;

Eliza(beth) Emily Bambridge: b.c.1874 possibly in Peckham / d.1097 (daughter of Albert Bambridge)

who married William Thomas Burt (b. 1871 Kensington / d.1900 Wandsworth) in Islington

who had children (more than likely born in London)
b.c. 1898 James (probably Camberwell in Sep Qtr 1898)
b.c. 1900 Frederick (no leads)

Can anyone with more experience provide any leads please?

Many thanks in advance.

Helen

RutlandBelle - doh!

Eliza died in 1907, I believe of Meningitis and I am guessing it would have been near Thornham Magna / Wickham Skeith in Suffolk (where all my family are from). Eliza moved to Suffolk following the death of William (at which point I can find no trace of the children!), she remarried in 1902 to Benjamin Blake (my GG Grandfather).

I have death records for William Burt - Jul / Aug / Sept 1900 Wandsworth.

MadBull - thanks for the info ... you haven't stumbled on birth records at all in your search have you?

Mel - can I ask a silly question pls (yes, I am a newbie!) - where do you find the witnesses from?

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 5 Mar 2011 18:44

when and where was BenjaminBlake born and I'll have a look on 1911 census to see if the children are with him

hsj76 Report 5 Mar 2011 18:49

RutlandBelle - Benjamin Blake was born in Thornham Magna on 20.04.1875. He married twice that I am aware of - once to Eliza in 1902 and then to Ethel Lummis (Nee Davey) in 1907. I have the 1911 Census Record, this is where I found that Benjamin and Eliza had had 2 children - Violet and Cissy .... it's Eliza's former life that causing me the confusion as James and Frederick do not show as being with Eliza in the 1901 Census (where Eliza is living with her sister Jane in Wickham Skeith). History hey!!!!

The names of the witnesses are on the original of the marriage record on London Parish Records on Ancestry.

Am having trouble finding Elizabeth before her marriage though.

RutlandBelle

RutlandBelle Report 5 Mar 2011 18:59

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 5 Mar 2011 19:03

I can't find any records of James and Frederick, neither births nor census.

hsj76

hsj76 Report 5 Mar 2011 19:08

James and Frederick are verbal leads and liekwise I am struggling to find anything for Eliza before her marriage.

I am trying to find out of there is any truth in the two children, but have so far drawn a blank. But being so new I didn't know if it was me being blond!

Thanks for all your help guys!
