I am trying to establish, as fact, whether the Elizabeth Keenan above, is the sister of the Patrick Keenan i've been researching for ages!
The info i have is as follow's:-

Elizabeth Keenan married Bernard Abraham in Newtownards in Sept 1890.( LDS site info, & Confirmed by Church Office.)
1901 & 11 Irish Census's show both in Holywood, b.1862 Co.Down, & 1863 Co. Louth. resp.
Patrick's Granddaughter says she always knew Elizabeth as "Auntie".

I have used every search engine to try and connect Elizabeth to Patrick ( b.1868 England. {1901 Irish Census}) but to no avail.
If i could get some solid evidence, this would clarify a lot of my existing research.

Michael...You may have been better to have just contd.your Thread TTF (11 March) re Horn/Keenan Irish Marriage...although your trying to connect Eliz. with Patrick..all the info re Patrick is on that thread.
Have you received Patricks MC..?
Have you noted that there is an Eliz.Keenan living next to Patrick (1901)

Hi Folks,

I did follow the rules, and put this in my original "Thread" but got no response! Thought you'd moved on to other, newer problems.

To try and answer your questions in order:-

1) The Church, St. Patricks, in Newtownards only holds records from 1904 onwards.
I have the Vol/ Page No.s as Ann shows. This a GRO Ref I assume?
2) Elizabeth b.1862 Co.Down; Bernard b.1863 Co. Louth.
If its any help, Bernard is listed as a sailor in 1901, Elizabeth a shop
owner. 1911 see's them both running the shop. Both became very well
known in Holywood.
3) Have got Patricks MC, it confirms what Maura et al suggested before
about location etc.
4) No, i didn't catch the Elizabeth next door in 1901. Thanks, i'll look at that.

Maura

Morning Erin, no I can't find them on the 1911 census.

Michael

Michael Report 24 Mar 2011 12:35

Hello Ladies,

Patrick, hopefully Elizabeth's sister, is the one ID'd by Maura who married Catherine McNally in 1890. Maura also found the 1901 Irish Census entry which shows that Patrick was born in England.
I can't find them on the 1911 Irish Census either, also can't find a suitable Patrick in the English Census's,assuming he was born about 1868 - aged 33 on the 1901 Census.

Following Erins link to the Elizabeth next door, there is also a Thomas Keenan, 33, in the same street too. Could Elizabeth be the widowed mother, and Patrick and Thomas the sons?

Brilliant catch on the will Erin, i know the Abrahams were childless, and sent money to Elizabeths nieces when they were sent to England.

Maura

Maura Report 24 Mar 2011 12:47

You can rule out the Thomas as he married a Mary Duffy and his father is a Thomas

Maura

Maura Report 24 Mar 2011 13:34

There also another Thomas Keenan living in the same area Mayfair street 1901, he was married twice 1st to a Catherine Cogan and then to a Mary Clarke, his father is also a Patrick, he's in Ardilea street 1911 name spelt Keenon

Michael

Michael Report 24 Mar 2011 13:41

Ardilea Street is the Street that makes a "t" with Glenpark! Its also where the witnesses to Patrick and Catherine's wedding lived.

Maura

Maura Report 24 Mar 2011 13:43

So you know the Marrowbone district.

Maura

Maura Report 24 Mar 2011 13:45

Who where their witnesses ?

Michael

Michael Report 24 Mar 2011 13:59

Maura,
No, if thats what its called. You gave me Glenpark St. thru the 1901 Census, Pat & Caths MC gave me Ardilea St. Pat's address was actually Saunderson St. which doesn't exist anymore, but, a Saunderson Ct. is now off Glenpark St!

Erin,
Now have copies of both Elizabeth & Bernards Will excerts, Ta.

Michael

Michael Report 24 Mar 2011 14:05

Haven't got witness info to hand, but did do 1901 search for them in Ardilea St. to no avail.
Can let you have it later if still interested.

Eringobragh1916 Report 24 Mar 2011 19:07

Michael....Your answers to the queries correspond with what I have found/not found..!!
I wondered about the other Keenans also but fortunately Maura has eastablished Thomas was not your Keenan...
I also checked out for any family connection between the family living with Eliz Keenan (1901) Glenpark St....Bernard and Cath/Kath Goodfellow thought Cath.may have been a Keenan before she married and living with her mother but can't find a marriage for a Keenan/Goodfellow...Bernard is listed as July-Sept Quarter 1894.
There are Yarr's (Pres.) living with Patrick and Cath. havent checked them out yet to see if any family connection..
.
You may wonder what I am on about but if you check out the actual Census "Houses/Outbuildings image then you will see there were 2 families living in both houses....Eliz.had the better deal as there were 10 living with Patrick in 2 rooms...!!!

I have only found 2 Eliz .Keenan's b abt the time you have for Eliz.jnr. only 1 with father Patrick...

Eliz...13 April 1869..parents Patrick Keenan and Susan Hanna...Clough...Co Down

Michael

Michael Report 24 Mar 2011 20:00

Erin / Maura,

I agree, its doing our heads in too!?!
What i've done is sent an E-Mail, via the Bangor Parish website and St. Comgall's - i think its the right Church - E-Mail AD. Requesting a copy of Elizabeth and Bernards MC! Hopefully this may help in the search.
I just wish i could nail Pat & by association Elizabeth, in England?

P.S. Witnesses to Pat & Cath's Wedding were, Charles O' Hara & Annie Mayes, both of Ardilea St.

Maura

Maura Report 25 Mar 2011 11:23

Sorry Michael drawn a blank on the witnesses, Charles seem to be living over the road in Ballymena street 1901, but his wife a Catherine Moans. Nothing with Annie Mayes. That whole district was pull down 30 years ago, now all new houses. They were 2up & 2down kitchen houses.

Eringobragh1916

Eringobragh1916 Report 25 Mar 2011 12:56

Morning Maura...Well I have drawn a dozen blanks..!!
Where have Patrick and family gone...? I have tried every permutation of the surname checked the childrens names and ages give or take ...(without surname) checked Patrick..Cath etc nothing for the Island of Ireland...
Tried Ellis Island data base...nothing appropriate...checked UK Census index..nothing...
Have also looked at the Directories for Belfast and the 1907 of Glenpark St. shows the houses 13-21 vacant...Bernard Goodfellow is now at No.4..(as per 1911)
Michael do you suppose the family went across the water to Glasgow...?
