Are you still paddling???????????

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 28 Mar 2011 08:44

In the cold light of morning it is still not clear.

I did look at the bmd for Elvin, and yes it is a Sarah Ann, but not MY Sarah Ann, and this SA was born in 1875, as per the census. So still up the creek without a paddle. lol

Thanks again for all your endeavours, I think it has thrown up more questions than answers with Emma and her husband, but there is nothing I can do about that.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks once more.

Thanks Ann. I have drifted a bit from my original posting.

But I assume Sarah Elvin widow. is the 1911 census.

Thank you and the rest for your hard work. Much appreciated.

EDIT. Spot on Prickly, the very same.

The one I posted re Sarah Elvin may well be, they have the same occupation also.

Sadly, I have not been on the plonk.

She is on the 1881 and 1891 Census living at home. But then disappears.

A Sarah Elvin appears on Emma's marriage certificate to Jos. Randall.

I am wondering if that is she.

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 27 Mar 2011 19:49

Have you been on the plonk! lol

Sarah.........is Cooper her married name

EDIT..........Its me thats been on the Plonk, just seen the fathers name.

So you are hoping she never married by 1911??

Supposing Sarah is around the same age as Emma give or take 5 years below is the only one in London area.

I THINK so.

She disappears, and as her name is Sarah Cooper, it is VERY hard to track down.

This Sarah Elvin appears as the witness on Emma marriage certificate.

So really........................ clutching at straws.
lol

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 27 Mar 2011 19:35

There are a few Sarah Elvins in London what DOB?

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 27 Mar 2011 19:34

No, there is not.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 27 Mar 2011 19:34

MTG - it appears to be a male only boarding house.

1911 for Emma doesn't detail any children other than those on the census.

Is Sarah Elvin the missing sister?

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 27 Mar 2011 19:32

The only loose cannon is lodging in Islington as above posts, me thinks this may be the blaggard.........posing as single!!

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 27 Mar 2011 19:32

It might just be that the owner of the Lodging House was not particularly interested in whether Joseph was married or not!

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 27 Mar 2011 19:28

Well Prickly that is curious. Joseph is living around the corner to where he was born.

So, I wonder what happened. I know Emma eventually lived in Finchley, so maybe she had the wanderlust.

Is there a Sarah Elvin and her husband living in the boarding house?

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 27 Mar 2011 19:26

Oh thats interesting.

Is there any note of the other child that survived, please?

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 27 Mar 2011 19:26
