Thank you Madmeg. There are some discrepancies in her age. I as so tired tonight I don't know if I can get it straight tonight. I haven't seen the Dorricott
conection before. I always forget to check the Goodhall spelling even thoug I have found them spelt that way several times.
That you for your time and consideration. I really do appreciate it.
Good Night

I'm not certain those censuses are the same family, but William is a shoemaker on them all. Mary is born Stourbridge in 1861, but it says "Not Known" in 1851. Her age is a bit odd too, being 42 in 1851 and 41 in 1861. Maybe it's a different Mary.

Looks like her age in 1861 is rubbish.

Hi Margaret
I have her name on my dad's birth records. I also got a copy of her marriage certificate to Edward Goodall this year. That is when I found out for sure that she really married a man older than her dad. that is what caused all my previous errors. He was also much older than he stated on the marrage certificate according to the 1911 census.
Thanks Kamala

Hi Lynski,
Yes, I believe that is them. They went on to have more children but I can't seem to go any further back than William and Mary. But all I really know how to use is genes reunited and family Search. After that I'm done.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I am getting a bit slow in my old age. But can I ask how you know your dad's mum was Sarah Jane Cope? Have you got his birth certificate, and are you certain it is the right person? I cannot go any furher without that proof.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you Linski for the link to all the censuses. I really appreciate the help.

It's been a long time but I am back on the search for my ancestors. I have the birth and marriage certs for my grandfather and grandmother. I am still very nervous about adding people to the tree after my previous experience. But I have added a couple of generations. I'm looking for a little help in the gggrandfather situation now. William Goodall, dob c1802 married to Mary,
I have found them in a censuses 1851, 61, 71 and 1891 with up to 9 children.
I have searched on family search but I don't seem to be able to find anything before then. With the earliest census being 1841 is there any other places I can research for earlier ancestors before william. :-D

Up Date. The marriage and birth certificates arrived. I don't have it yet my sister does. Edward's father was Richard and his mother was Elizabeth. He seems to have lied on his marriage certificate because he listed himself a 36 yrs old when he was in fact 42 yrs old. Maybe because he was marring my 19 yr old grandmother. It shows his correct age in the 1911 census and also shows the truth about his age. I guess he told her once they were married.
Now I have a problem because with those parents I am only able to find Goodhall's on the census. It looks like the was filled in by the preparer because the handwriting is all the same, so it is very possibly spelt incorrectly as Jonesey mentions above. I am really having difficulty tracking his ancestry down for this reason.

Sorry Ann, I am new to this. I have made so many mistakes so far. I should have realised that I should add it on. I don't know where to find your information now because it would appear that they have been merged together. I did do as you suggested though and searched all trees. No luck though. Thank you for your patience. I will try to find your information.
