Mystifyied by that 1891 census so spent some spare credits to look at it. They are all different households at the same address on the image (only looked at the Graham page) and the men given the relationship Housemaid are actually Heads of household.

If you google Vennel, Greenock, there are some photos.

I can't get onto Familysearch either, it's been out of order on and off for a few days.

I'll have to leave it for now as something's come up, thank you all again.

Sandra

Potty, yes Amanda is my daughter.

Potty

Potty Report 29 Mar 2011 14:17

Mary would have been born before birth registration started in Ireland. familysearch has some Irish baptisms and marriages but the site doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Liz,

Sorry, I didn't mean you were having a go at me, I was just checking that I haven't done wrong again. I think I checked for a marriage and couldn't find one.

Sandra, I'm sorry, I'm not having a go at you, just mentioning that it struck a chord.
Do you have a marriage certificate for Elizabeth at all? Maybe that would have Martha on it if she was her mother?
I'm afraid i can't access Irish records to find out more about Mary Jane and her parents.

Alviegal, that 1891 census certainly does have a lot of names for one address - over 60! And a lot of the men have the relationship housemaid!

Sandra, is your daughter Amanda? There is this thread about the family from 2009:

http://www.genesreunited.com/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/graham/thread/1136826

Copy and paste the above into your browser address bar to see the thread

Sandra

Sandra Report 29 Mar 2011 14:06

alvie,
my other thread was a similar thread, it was trying to find Elizabeths birth but I'm now looking for Mary Janes siblings, does this mean that I have duplicated threads, I didn't think I had.

I knew the names on this sounded familiar Sandra, especially 71 Vennel Street. We've been through this before with the Graham family back in 2008.
Doesn't seem that long ago....lol

Alvie, that's them thank you.

I couldn't find a birth for Elizabeth to Mary Jane & Thomas and it was suggested that Mary Jane may have had a sister called Martha as there's a birth for an Elizabeth Kirkwood with the mothers name Martha Kirkwood with no father. Maybe Mary Jane took Elizabeth on as her own.

Sandra, how did you (or your daughter) get back to Mary Jane? So you have info on any children? If we can find her on the census after her marriage, it will help to trace her back.
