Hi Carol,
I am relative newcomer to this site, and read every thing i could before posting (still got some things wrong though lol) I do stay on line when i have posted any thing as information can come very fast indeed, however it can be very difficult to wait for help if i add to an exsisting thread, today i asked for help with a new member of the same family and waited 2 hours and felt bad that i just had to leave it for a while, ( as you can see i came back!) I never know how long i should wait, as i dont want all the kind people who help me to think i am being rude:) What do most people do for the best?

Adding a request to an existing thread really is the best thing to do as it keeps all the found information together ........ BUT you could change the title to add "Update p. xx"

and that will attract attention.

To do that, click Edit on your very first post, that post opens and and so does the title .... and you can change it

I usually think that one should stick around for about 30 minutes, certainly no less than about 10 minutes.

Hope this helps you.

So we have one relative newbie who has seen this thread and commented ... and who was already familar with the suggestions/instructions about waiting for questions and answers when one posts and seems pretty scrupulous about following them. ;)

I'm sorry, but I just see these "advice" threads as cluttering up the board and bumping someone's actual request for help off page one and farther down every time they're "nudged". It really did become apparent long ago that they serve no purpose, however many of them there are and however often they're nudged.

We are stuck dealing with people who don't read instructions *after* they don't follow them. I find that about the most useful thing to do in those cases is add the advice, in their thread, when they haven't returned (or haven't given enough information, or haven't given the source of their information, etc. etc.), that they click on "Help Clinic" and have a read, and then click on "Trying to find". Doing that will get them out of the "surname board" loop, so they might get a better picture of how things work around here.
