Was GEORGE TUDOR HALL ever in jail?

I have reviewed the 1901 Gateshead census and have decided I do not have the right George. His occupation according to the Marriage Certificate, of which I have the download-image, is 'Accountant'. In view of his offence of forgery and embezzlement from the Glasgow City Chamberlain, he would very probably have lost his position as an accountant. I reject Gateshead on other grounds of family consistency |

Ian, I just don't understand why you're riding madly off in all directions instead of focusing! |

To all who have helped thanks for time, interest and info. It looks as if this is the end of the line. I've come across Catherine Aderne, but she proved NOT to be George's spouse-----unless George remarried, or married bigamously to Catherine Aderne, riding on the similarity of ADERNE to NAIRNE??. That would explain the Gateshead census...but this is a question which I guess will remain unanswered. |

Is there any chance at all of the 1901 census being produced |

This says that George Tudor Hall (1862-1898) married Catherine Aderne. |

Catherine in the 1891/1901 censuses was born in St Andrews |

Katherine was 23. The witnesses were Andrew and Ann, but census retruns for 1871/81 show her parents as Andrew and Jessie. She was born in Petty, invernesshire |

Does the 1891 for Catherine match the details on the marriage cert for parents and occupation of her father |

That 1901 census for Gateshead has been ruled out already by an earlier posting |

Have the search result, but when signed by Ebenezer Hall, its fairly certain especially when I should have typed in KATHERINE, not KATHLEEN |

Is there any criminal record for Scotland. The fact is that Beatrix was living with her grandfather in 1891, at age 2, and separated from younger siblings |

If you'd like to actually provide information like the 1901 household in Gateshead, someone might be able to help. |

Janey, hope you pick all this up. It looks as if the earlier children may, like Beatrix , have gone to live with aunts/uncles. WAS there some disgrace, was George in prison, did Catherine make a false entry on the 1891 register? We may never know, suppose |
