Yes the Ernest Buzza is the one I found as we always knew him as Ernest but on the visit we was told that he was Joseph Ernest but only ever used his middle name as did his wife.
There was a mentioned of a brother and a sister( the brother who we visited back in the 80's but we can't remember his name) but later it was said someone was one of 6 but we couldn't work out if she meant her father or grandfather as she was telling stories about thing that had happened in the past

Deborah

Deborah Report 1 May 2011 22:36

Right so this joseph may not be him then as we know he was Joseph Ernest

Hi Rose
My husband has just said about Ernest coming from Cornwall then moving to Dover where he meet Irene Freegard so it looks promising as the stories told by the Auntie did show there were name changes. The only thing that I am not sure of is, if his name was Joseph Herman wouldn't he had to of used his real name in the RAF?

Deborah

Deborah Report 1 May 2011 23:18

Sorry also a bit confusing as Blanch is written as 2 the same as Joseph but in the 1911 censor where Joseph is then called Ernest is written as 9 and Blanch younger

Perchino

Perchino Report 1 May 2011 23:23

Herman Christian Name is of German origin and means "soldier". Perhaps he was more comfortable using Ernest if he served in wartime.

Rose thank you for all this info just going through it all now and it looks as if I was getting the two Blanch mixed up. As I read it and correct me if I am wrong.
Blanch Senior is the mother of Jane who married John Buzza after having Ernest (Joseph Herman Morshead Buzza)
Did they not have adopted records back in the 1900's so anyone born out of wedlock maybe put on the censors as adopted .
Thanks to everyone else giving me info
