please can someone help me solve the riddle of my gt gt grandmother, Emily Killick b c1848 she had a sister Alice Goachen Killick b 1851 at beginning of year. Parents James Killick m Sarah Goachen later that year. James I can find on the 1841 census and not again till 1871. Sarah I can only find on the 1871 census. My dilemma is, is Emily james's daughter or sarah's, later censuses say she was born in sutton surrey,but can't find her. Emily was married to Thomas Edward Hicks. James b c 1825 Godstone. Sarah b c 1818 Chichester or Arundel.

Thankyou glitter baby, Thomas is emily's son but she doesn't appear on any census with the killicks. Not 1851 or 61 in fact I can't find any of them.

Both give address as Portland St

The marriage I have for james and sarah is late 1851. Emily's son is on the 71 and 81 census as if he never lived with them and emily I find once she is married

so is sarah calling herself killick before they were married and why does alice have goachen in her name. many thanks for looking at this for me.

The only emily killicks I can find born in epsom for that year have different mothers

FMP has James, Sarah and Emily as HILLICK in Lambeth for 1851

Looks like they are "paid" witnesses or should that be church wardens or something similar as they also witnessed another wedding on the same image

Ignore the surname of Richard as it is a transcription error.
The image is Killick

so is sarah her mother as I can't find any births for emily with her name and I can't find sarah goachen on any censuses till she is with james.
