Robin,
I think that the 1901 census that Ozi found is them not long after they married.

Lynski

Lynski Report 12 May 2011 22:30

The birth I found earlier is probably incorrect.

Robin would need to get the marriage certificate to check Robert's father's name.

This would have to be after getting a birth certificate for one of the children to confirm their mother's name.

Hi Ozi no i think the one Lynne has is the one i found it last year but thought it didnt match enough. I never thought of the middle names being used for first.

Many thanks for both of you helping me i have been stuck on that for a few years so gave up tonight and thought i would ask, glade i did now.

Lynski

Lynski Report 12 May 2011 22:25

I would say that your 1901 is a goer, Ozi. Birth details, place of birth and occupation all seem to match the 1911 census that I found and if they had 5 children then the first one wasn't born until after the 1901 census which means they would not have had any children at that time.

Yes i have need to send off for some certs now. i have Gwen's wedding cert to her first husband which comfirms her dads name. so will have to send for the best matches for her birth.

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 12 May 2011 22:19

So 1901 is not a goer? I know the age is out, but if he's not sure where he's born, he might not know his exact age.

Do you have your grandmother's birth certificate? This would confirm her mother's name.

With regards to the names, I asked my mother for information and her brother Jack turned out to be John Robert so names used were not always accurate.

Susannah could be Nan? I know that Nan is a common one for Annie.

Robin7 Report 12 May 2011 22:18

aaarrhhh yes just remebered my dad said Gwenllian was born in Bargoed which is what you have found there on Henry Street well done Lynne and Thank You.

Robin7

Robin7 Report 12 May 2011 22:16

lol yes it would just be like my lot to go around using middle names. :D

Lynski

Lynski Report 12 May 2011 22:15

It looks as though they were using their middle names?? Catherine would be Kate?

The birth place of Robert John matches your information.
