hi everyone,I am so,excited. I have a really good breakthrough. My mother was Elizabeth Ann Kelly, she was born in 1916,and her mother was called Mary, there is possibly another family member called Kathleen. Could anyone help me try and match up this new info please,I didn't even know her age let alone her mothers name until now. please if someone could help me match these two women up,even if there are a fewI would be very grateful,they lived in Hampstead London in 1938, but could originally be from Ireland.

Hi Sorry about that, it was a bit of a breakthrough after years of going over old ground.
I was born at New End hospital on 2/4/1938 my name was Marian (and still is)on birth cert, mothers name Elizabeth Ann Kelly. Found a baptism cert as my daughter trailed round some RC churches and found it,Godmothers name on cert,Kathleen Kelly.
Rang Royal free hospital archive very recently, and a lovely lady said she would search birth register. They had done same before but that year had vanished, so she dug deeper and found a admissions and discharge register and found the info that I could use, more than I had ever had before.
Elizabeth Kelly age 22, mothers name Mary.
Elizabeth 's address then was 12 Gayton cres Hampstead. Her mother's is a bit unclear, but looks like Eden rd, not sure where.I know it seems still hard to search,but I must just say that I have got a long way with so little to start with. I don't know where she was born, I suppose it could have been Ireland even (or not).
The godmother's address was 12 Lyndhurst Gdns Hampstead at that time.

I have checked the 1911 for Eden Road, it looks like there wasn't one for Hampstead.

I don't know if a Kellys Directory for the area at that time might be able to help you.

Thankyou for your help,its definitly Eden or edan. I think I may have to go and electoral rolls for 12 Gayton cres in 1938.Might see some more Kelly's there .very interesting seeing 1911 Gayton cres though.

This is rather odd....there is no mothers maiden name listed here and the birth is not on FreeBMD? No image available either for the GRO registration

If the above birth is your mom, you need to buy the certificate to confirm the mothers name

Looking at your birth registration your mom wasnt married when she had you....well unless she married a Kelly?

We have had a look at the address of Elizabeth's mother and it looks like 18 Eden rd,co.Offally. On google maps there IS one there.
Noidea who she married I am afraid.There is a marriage to a Sidney Tanner, with an Elizabeth who would be 22yrs old at the time,but might be a coincidence,I have sent a message to the daughter to see if same one, but no reply yet.

That's Elizabeth's mother,Mary Kelly,she lived therein 1938,wow. Do you think oneof the others is her mum?,this is getting interesting,we now have the age of Elizabeth's mum too now,
Thankyou rootgatherer and everyone else. Her mother lived in Eden rd and I can now see it says Birr,County Offaly.
I feel we are getting there for sure.

Just looked at date,and she would be too young to have Elizabeth,never mind,it was 18 Eden rd if anyone can look for me.

This is a tricky one as Elizabeth wouldn't be eligible to vote until the voting age for women was changed from 30 to 21 in 1938. By which time she may not have been living with her mother or may have married soon after 1938 and be registered under a different name.

If you look at the 1911 Irish census there are lots of Kellys in King's County (which became Co. Offally after the establishment of the Irish Free State)

From the Familsearch.org beta site there are a few possibilities for Elizabeth's birth, assuming that she was born in King's County. Remember too that if the family were RC the "Anne" may have been added as a confirmation name.

Hi, a friend saw the first one on your list andI think it looks promising,they also saw a Kathleen Kelly from Birr birth 1913, so could be her sister,I know it's a bit ifs and buts , but am feeling optimistic now.I have emailed the nearest roman catholic church in Birr to see if they may look for maybe baptism certs for them both.
