Have you tried the search trees to find your cousins? are they actually members of this site? If not it is very unlikely they will see your post

Rachel Report 28 May 2011 13:08

I have posted on living relatives in the hope i might make contact with any cousins. My father didn't have anything to do with his family after 1957, before i was born, therefore it would be nice to get to know any family, plus they might know more about my grandfather who i can't find on any census or trees. I have made contact with a Hyde family member by leaving a message on another site in this way, so there can't be any harm in trying.
Kind Regards.
Rachel.

Why have you now posted on living relatives?

You are not going to find related people passing by seeing your message.

If you want to try and find them you need to search the trees

Yes i have the death cert for Albert but sadly it doesn't say where he was born. I have made contact with a member of the family above but they have told me they don't think that is my Albert. How they can be so sure i don't know. I did ask them what happened to Albert, who he married etc but they didn't answer me.
Thanks for your help.
Rachel.

Have you actually got the death cert for Albert? In recent years they show the place and date of birth but I dont know if that would be so in 1940 but its worth a try

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 20 May 2011 13:24

The closest one I can find is this in 1901 at Quarters Farm Ticehurst
John Parks 53 Farmer b Ticehurst Sussex
Ellen 50 wife b Salehurst
Emily 14
ALBERT 12
Walter 5 all born Ticehurst
William J Aldridge 32 son in law Cook Domestic b Stoke Newington
Margaret J Aldridge 25 daughter b Ticehurst
Willian J Aldridge 2 mths grandson

John Parks m Ellen Baker 1871 DEc Q Ticehurst
John Parks was the son of John Parks (1823) and Mary Field who married 1847 Mar Q Ticehurst

But not a ROGUE among them -by name anyway!

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 20 May 2011 12:09

De Mello is a Portugese name as is Rogue -I also found that John but they seem to be rather more affluent than Gamekeepers.Althought he spelling looks clear on the marriage register it could possibly be Rayne or Royne -though I have tried all the John R's I could find
My own marriage cert contains a wrong name for my husbands father so it is by no means a certainty.

Rachel

Rachel Report 20 May 2011 10:16

It seems the name Rogue or sometimes spelled Rague is quite popular with the De Mello's, there's quite a few of them.

Rachel

Rachel Report 19 May 2011 21:56

Well i never, so it is a name lol

Seems a bit strange that of all the places to live that John Rogue lived in London.

Shame really, i quite fancied having the surname De Mello !

Mary

Mary Report 19 May 2011 21:43

I thought I had found him,I just serached first names John Rogue and one John Rogue De Mello 1856 London came up.

I thought maybe they had changed their surname, but no.
But at least I saw the name John Rogue whoever.

So it is actually a name.
Who the heck could invent a name like that!!

I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks John Rogue doesn't exist, i think i have searched every BMD and Census going. It's such a shame i don't have any siblings names. In 1901 Albert would of been about 11 so i would of thought he would of been at home but who knows. It would be great if you could find Albert in the intervening years.
Many thanks.
Rachel.

GillianMac Report 19 May 2011 20:50

Pity it seems that John R was John Richard Parks and not John Rogue Parks (who doesnt seem to exist! as far as BDMs and censuses areconcerned anyway)

GillianMac Report 19 May 2011 20:13

There is this family in Walworth (where the marriage took place)

1871 John Parks 50 Cab driver b Canterbury
Mary A wife 36
Elizabeth S 17
John R 14
Charlotte I 12
Rebecca 7
Henry 5
Frances A 2
Francis 1month all born Walworth

That John R appears 1901 in Nottingham
John R Parkes 45 Lab at Waterworks
Annie 47 wife
Edith M 20
Jack R 13
So no Albert among them at that stage
But I will look again to see if I can find John R in the 2 intervening
censuses. No Gamekeeper of course but people do change occupations

Thank you for all the info, i was kind of hoping there might be a connection between Thomas and John. I know the spelling of the name was different but that has happened before. Back to looking again !.

I think it is more likely that the witness is actually Thomas Bizzell who lived next door to 100 Rodney Place in 1911. His name is Bizzell from 1870 when he was born and not Bissell. It may be that when they married they just asked two unconnected people to be witnesses, either neighbours or work colleagues.

Hi, I found this family.

Park family living in Poplar E, London in 1911.
49 Brabazon St.
Eliza Park, 65, 1846, born Stepney, London
Eliza Esther Park(dau) 27, 1884, born Poplar
Albert Henry Park (son) 21, 1890, born Poplar
John Edward George Bissell (boarder) 24, 1887, born Stepney.

If you remember the witness to my Grandparents marriage was Thomas Bizzell.

John Bissell married Eliza Esther Park in Dec 1911, Poplar.

I haven't found a connection between Thomas and John yet but hoping someone may be able to help.

Father's name on 1901 census is Walter Henry Park ???

I know this still may not be my Albert but I'm wondering if this is the family connection between the Parks and the Bissell's.

Kind Regards.

Rachel.

It was a close call. Registered in the same quarter as the marriage. So he could have been born just before the marriage.
