Mary and Margee
Thankyou so much for this, apologies for not getting back to you I am just back on after posting the other night.

Its a bit emotional reading this because its so sad, I never new about this when my Gran was alive and as usual you find these things out too late.

Got the death certificate of Charlotte waiting on John's. Charlotte's cause of death was Fibriod Phthisis, a form of TB,

Mary the records you mention would they be for her time in the workhouse

Thanks again
Robert

Ann is my great gran and she came to Scotland after her mum died in 1886 (thanks to Kath n Mary) to live with her mum's sister Elizabeth, however Thomson (who I understand to be Thomasina) I believe died in a workhouse when the family hit upon hard times (now known to be because of the death of my grt grt grandparents.

Can anyone access census records of 1891 to see where she stayed, Iit is known the family split and there was a tragedy, which you are all helping me uncover.
Thankyou
Robert

Gawd - if I put bdm in caps, I get another silly emoticon - can see we'll have to be careful what we write!

This could possibly be John and Charlotte's marriage:-

Name: MCDONALD, John
Registration District: South Shields
County: Durham
Year of Registration: 1873
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Not available before 1912
Volume No: 10A
Page No: 981

On the same page is Charlotte Longley.

If you look at the original of this, it says she was ONE - not 31.

"Name: MCDONALD, Charlotte
Registration District: South Shields
County: Durham
Year of Registration: 1886
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Age at death: 31
Volume No: 10A
Page No: 399"
