In the 1841 census enumerators were instructed to reduce the age of anyone older than 15 to the nearest 5 or 0 below. Eg someone aged 21, 22,23 or 24 would be shown as 20 years old. Most but not all enumerators carried out those instructions.

thanks very much for the info. I was sure I'd got the line right, but not only did I get the marriage wrong, I also got confused between Bradford city and West Bradford. The Varley marriage also explains a marriage reference on lan-opc to Edward being the father of a bride called Elizabeth Varley. Thanks again.

Just to repeat, West Bradford is near Clitheroe (and Waddington is about a mile away) and no where near Bradford, Yorkshire.
