re accesssing family trees

I enter the name, birth year and palce of person in the Search boxes on Home page

I tend to sue London, England rather than more specific areas of London.

Click Submit

and Family Trees shows up on the next screen ........ you have to scroll down to find them

Then just open Public Family Trees, and scroll down until you find the one you're looking for

I do use Old Search, not the new one, which I dislike

OR you could try (and I've never searched this way!)

Click on Search in the top bar on the home page

Scroll down to Public Family Trees

and I posted this after Jax posted the full 1911 information

ja...x

thank you!

probably NOT!

the family we are looking at don't seem to have had a daughter Bridget

and Catherine seems to have maintained birth place in London, often Aldgate.

so I think we can scratch that one ............ Murray, forget that Catherine McCarroll!

sylvia

I left the information up because it does remove that Catherine from contention ......... just in case any one else comes along to help!

Thanks Jax.

Yes, I had read your message about that Catherine MCarroll with the Bridget.

Too many Catherine McCarrolls with sons named James!

So maybe my death of Catherine in Toronto is correct after all? The only questionable aspect of that one was her age. But my Catherine appeared to have lied about her age at marriage.

I think you will find Murray that the 1911 census is not anything to do with your catherine...I posted it at the top of this page as Sylvia does not have full access to FMP

Hi Sylvia el al::

A follow-up to a reply from SylviainCanada...

Sylvia wrote the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Murray, you posted:-
"The death cert for 1917 I found in Toronto listing her age as 76 is either the wrong age reported by her son, or I got the wrong Catherine McCarroll."

I THINK you might have the wrong person!

There are 3 Public Family Trees on ancestry for William McCarroll and catherine Cody

Son Joseph McCarroll was buried in Canada:-
7 Mar 1931 Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario

BUT Catherine seems to have died 1913 in Surrey, England according to all 3 trees

and this is on www.freebmd.org.uk
Deaths Dec 1913 (>99%)
McCarroll Catherine 74 St.Olave 1d 169

and this is on the 1911 Census
HOUSEHOLD MCCARROLL CATHERINE F 1829 82 St Olave (Bermondsey) London

In the same household are:-
HOUSEHOLD MCCARROLL BRIDGET F 1865 46 St Olave (Bermondsey) London
HOUSEHOLD MCCARROLL JAMES M 1869 42 St Olave (Bermondsey) London

I did this using the free search ..... I do not have access to any further on that census, but someone else may be able to check it for you, and see whether this really is Catherine Cody

sylvia
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried unsuccessfully to access the 3 trees you mentioned, both from my home computer and at our local library. Any suggestions on how to find these 3 trees?

Also, in the 1911 census does it mention relationships of Catherine McCarroll, Bridget McCarroll and James McCarroll? I don't know of Bridget and James unless those 2 are married and James is Catherine's son. (I had her son James as born in 1866).

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Murray

Good luck!!

I have just noticed that the freebmd information on William Jacobs death did not show properly

Deaths Mar 1845 (>99%)

JACOBS William Tiverton & 10 230

Also ... the address on that 1851 Census was Back Lane .............. same as on the 1841, but neither showed a number for the house, so can not tell whether it was the same house on both censuses, or just on the same street.

Thanks so much Sylvia.

You've done some great, and clear, thinking on this puzzle.

I believe you are correct... I got the death for the wrong Catherine McCarroll in Toronto. I remember being quite surprised to find that she had gone to Toronto, and I was right to be surprised, it wasn't her.

Yes, that's my Joseph McCarroll buried in Prospect Cemetery in 1931.

And yes, I had the 1861 census info. So it appears Catherine was underage at marriage.

I will sort through the other info you've provided.

Thanks so much.
