I googled 10,Butchers Row Coventry then clicked onto images.

It is very strange there is a post card posted April 1915 from a Alice.

Have a look it seemed really strange to me,seeing as we were looking for a Alice.

Alice WHITE Daur Female 3 Rotherhithe, Surrey, England

Hi tempest

I think you are correct it does say row.

You managed to find Alice on the 1911 census with George her age does fit so it looks like this could well be the right Alice?

tempest Report 5 Aug 2011 17:42

I may be wrong here but I think the writing and signatures on certs are not always the actual originals and that marriage certs at least may be copies made by the registrar/ priest

1911 gives Alice as being born 1881 in London.

I couldn't find a birth for Alice Lavina White, but, there is this one, which could very well be her:-

(freebmd)
Births Mar 1882 (>99%)
Wright Alice Lavina St. Saviour 1d 194

(ancestry)
Name: Alice Lavina Wright
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1882
Registration district: St Saviour Southwark
Inferred County: London, Surrey

Record Type: Baptism
Estimated Birth Date: abt 1882

Father's name: Edward Wright
Occupation: ? Builder
Mother's name: Christian Beachiam Wright

...........marriage cert. will confirm as this will give you her father's name and occupation!

So my best bet is to start with the two marriages listed above

Having trouble finding the rest of the family in 1901???

Possible that the death is her so should maybe look in the Somerset area in 1901 census?

Candidiasia

Candidiasia Report 28 Jul 2011 20:29

Hi Catherine

That all seem to fit. Looks like I may need to order two marriage certs the one for George John Harding and Emily Louisa Rogers. and the one for Nicholas Lacey and Alice White.

The husband wanted me to go up the Harding line I hope this solves it

Thanks
