Hi,
Please can anyone help me find the parents and family of John Pearson.
The 1911 census says that John Pearson (c1868) was born in Walmgate,York. This is the only census where I can find him.I have his marriage certificate which states that his father was James Pearson an engine fitter and turner.John's marriage to Annie Elizabeth Munday was in 1892 and states that his age was 24 years.
I know this is a long shot but you have come up trumps in the past.
Regards
Wendy

Hi.
In 1911 John was living in 138 Ingrave street Battersea SW.His occupation was electrical fitter.
The marriage cert says he was a Private,1st Battalion ? Guards.and the address was Chelsea Barracks.

I wonder if James was also in the army? If so, and he served abroad that would explain not being able to find John on the census.

The 1st battalion Coldstream Guards were in Chelsea in 1891.

Wendy, does the regiment on the marriage cert look like either the Scots or Coldstream Guards?

Potty

Potty Report 30 Jul 2011 13:09

Wendy, were there any children of the marriage? Are there any on the 1911?

Hi
On the wedding cert it looks as if John served in the Scots Guards rather than Coldstream Guards.
The Army Service Record found by Maddie could well be right,St Saviours and Walmgate in York are only a stone's throw from each other.Could you please tell me where you found the record.
John and Annie had four children mentioned on the 1911 census as above.
