Kevin

I am sorry but nothing concrete is coming up for Mary or Thomas.

I am getting dinner at present (live in OZ,WA) I will have another look later on.

Roses would be fine ...only joking.

I do not have access to bdm for Scotland ,that is a paying site with credits to purchase.

They also could have emigrated to who knows where.

Suex
:-D

Potty

Potty Report 7 Aug 2011 11:35

Kevin, as well as the census, scotlandspeople has BMDs from 1855 onwards and parish records for before then.

You can view and download images of the original entries and Scottish BMD records give more info than English ones, eg birth entries have date and place of parents' marriage; marriage entries give mother's names as well as father's; death entries give parents' names.

familysearch has parish records and some BMDs from from 1855 to approx 1875.

Scottish baptism records usually have mother's maiden name.

You should be able to get documentary proof of all that has been found by buying some credits.

Kevin all the children posted belonged to James and Jean. I was trying to find Thomas on the 1841 census at 8 months - he may have been the child of James and Mary. But no success as yet.

Catherine

Potty

Potty Report 7 Aug 2011 12:40

Whoops! Just noticed that Jean died in 1832, so some, if not all, of the children baptised in Kirkintilloch must be from a different family, ie their were two couples with the same names.

Kevin, I would definitely check out those children on scotlandspeople - the images might have more info.

How do you know that Jean died in 1832?

Kevin

Kevin Report 7 Aug 2011 12:52

I got that Jean died in 1832 from a relation but they didnt know much more than that.

Potty

Potty Report 7 Aug 2011 13:00

Checking baptisms for Kirkintilloch of the 1820s/30s, there were at least two other James Stark listed as fathers.

One point to remember, the 1841 census does not give relationships, so the children in the 1841 might not be the sons and daughters of adults listed and the James and Mary might not be married.

Kevin, you really nead to work back through scotlandspeoples records.
