St Wilfred Calverley
Andrew Barraclough and Betty Lightfoot married 24 July 1808. Neither could sign. She was a spinster. There is no record of whether he was a bachelor but the vicar has written "clo", which I assume indicates that he was in the cloth trade.
Witnesses David Pratt & John Buscrott

St Paul, Manningham
Bapt 21 July 1850 Thomas Barraclough son of John, a mill overlooker and Ruth of Heaton

Can't find any other children of his marriage to Ruth or Grace.

He had a sister, Sarah, baptised 10 Jan 1814 at St Peter's Bradford to Andrew and Elizabeth.

Will look again tomorrow and report back.

Best wishes

While I'm waiting for my dinner to cook....this one may be yours given his birth year estimated from the burial register:

Andrew Barrowcliff baptised 19 April 1778 (aged 6 weeks) at St James', Tong son of Andrew Barrowcliff, shoemaker.

Andrew junior may have married twice - there is a marriage in St Peter's Bradford 30 Sep 1799 between Andrew Barraclough and Mary Smith BUT there were 9 children born to an Andrew Barraclough and unnamed wife or wives between 1790 and 1812 so I would expect some of these at least belonged to another Andrew, maybe his father

I found burial of an Andrew Barraclough aged 83 on 17 Nov 1836, Calverley & Chapelry of Idle. He is of Eccleshill Moor. So the right location for the grandfather of your John.

He was perhaps baptised in Haworth on 14 July 1754, the son of Frank Barraclough. A possible marriage is in St Peter's Bradford on 5 Dec 1774 to Rachel Taylor

John's first wife, Grace Davy, was baptised 1st Oct 1820 at St Oswald's, Guiseley. Daughter of John, a comber and Mary of Baildon. She married John 1 Aug 1841 as previously advised.

Buried St Peter's, Bradford 19 May 1843 aged 23 years

Thank you for the extra Kim. I have gone through my whole thread again with the benefit of a night's sleep and it is amazing what you all put together on the simple request of a wife for John Barraclough to be a mother for his 3 children.
Now I have to lay them all out in order in the tree!

If you need the full details of all the Barracloughs in Haworth, and/or all the children born to an Andrew Barraclough, let me know. Andrew was a fairly uncommon name at the time so it's easy to pick them out though I fear nearly impossible to decide whether the children belonged to Andrew snr or jnr. Francis?Frank is more difficult...there were lots of them!
Glad the info seems to have helped

Best wishes

Kim :-)
