Trying to place Augustina but only finding the marriage ??

Where did they live ? do you know when Augustina died as her death cert should say if she was wife or widow of.

What was her age on the marriage cert ?

Thank you everyone!

Very sad to see Leonard died before he was 1. Wonder if he was a brother to Willie?

Still haven't been able to find a date of death for Willie though.

She was Augustina L Hague on marriage, so perhaps:

Augusta Lavinia White d. 28/08/1958. Says she was "wife of William Kenworthy White - a retired Coal Miner" Lived at 65 Grasby Road, Hull

Augusta was b. 1891 and had 3 children before she married Willie. (As far as we know, he was the only man she married).

Thank you!

So willie was still alive in 1958

Notice too the informant calls him William!!

Nicola

Nicola Report 29 Aug 2011 19:48

The death certificate states that she was the wife of William (now William, not Willie) Kenworthy White and doesn't mention that she had been widowed.

The strange thing is that my Mum remembers her dying (as do her older siblings) but no-one remembers her being married and Augusta was their grandmother. My Nanna (maternal grandmother) spoke about her father being a coal miner (as he seems to have been) but he wasn't her father.

I do feel bad doing my family tree as my Nanna was very private about her family and didn't want anyone to know what had gone on. I presume it's because she and her two siblings were illegitimate.

The informant was Augusta's son, Leslie Hague, who also lived at the same address. Maybe he didn't like him! Or maybe he was strict!

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me find a death certificate/date of death.

Keep trying but got stuck! I've looked under "William" as well as "Willie" but still no luck.

Thank you!

As the informant her son must have known whether Willie was still alive or not. If he had pedeceased her then the cert should say widow of,
Did the children not know of him ? seems strange that you say they didnt know she was married . There seems to be several children of their marriage,

Had they separated ?

There's no death for a Willie K White or a William K White.

Wonder about this one as the date of birth fits with qtr of Willie's birth

Birth Date: 18 May 1889
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1980
Age at Death: 90
Registration district: Pontefract
Inferred County: North Yorkshire
Volume: 5
Page: 1192

Problem is wihout the distintive second name theres lots of Willie /William White's

Thank you Shirley!

There were 3 children born to Augusta Lavinia Hague....Alice Lavinia Hague b. 1917 (my Nanna), Celia Hague b. 19 and Leslie Hague b. 1926. Leslie was born the year before Augusta married Willie K. White in 1927. On Leslie's birth certificate, it states that the father was William Hague, so I wonder if Willie White was his father but he was written on the certificate as Hague to make people believe they were married?!

Alice and Celia didn't have a father on their birth certificates.

My Mum (Marcia Himsworth) was born in 1949 and Augusta died in 1958. Her Mum (Alice) had had an argument with Augusta (her mum) and they weren't talking. She remembers her Mum coming into the room reading the bereavement section of the newspaper and seeing her mum's death in there. My Mum has 3 older siblings, the oldest being, I think, 10 years older than her (for some reason, I can't get in to my tree at the moment) and also a cousin, who is daughter to Celia and none of them remember Augusta being married, though they do remember Augusta! It's been a bit of a difficult one. I had been searching for Augusta's date of death for ages and I eventually asked for help on here and people helped me find out that she had married Willie, so her name had changed to White! I've got the marriage certificate and it is correct as the witnesses were her parents.

The William White you have found could well be right. I suppose I would need to buy the death certificate to really find out. It's difficult trying to find who his parents were too. I know I'm not actually related to him (well, I presume anyway) but I'm really interested in him, probably due to all the history surrounding him and Augusta!

Thank you for all your help!
