OK. There is an Elsie A in the 1901 posted above born 1898 daughter of Henry and Emily. Here it is again. So Henry could be your friends Grandfather! But you will need either her birth certificate or marriage certificate to confirm.

vespasian

vespasian Report 30 Aug 2011 19:08

Astra,

Sorry i'm getting a bit confused. Henry Edward Lamb Stevens would have been my friends GRANDFATHER not GREAT GRANDFATHER.. My mistake.

Astra

Astra Report 30 Aug 2011 18:59

Right so if he could be his great grandfather then one of his children must be your friends grand parent. Do you have the names of his grand parents at all. Otherwise we are just fishing around in the dark.

vespasian

vespasian Report 30 Aug 2011 18:55

Astra,

Yes, he could be his great grandfather !.

This is a possibility for 1901. She married as Emily Louisa and the ages are right. The only problem is that when he married his occupation was given as Milkman and on this one he is a Private Soldier.

Henry E Stevens
Age: 35
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1866
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Emily L Stevens
Gender: Male
Where born: Camberwell, London, England
Civil parish: Islington
Ecclesiastical parish: St Anne
County/Island: London
Household Members: Name Age
Henry E Stevens 35
Emily L Stevens 30
Emily A Stevens 8
Florence E Stevens 5
Elsie A Stevens 2
Henry R P Stevens 4 Months

and in 1911 he is a Carman. His birth place changes as frequently as his occupation.

So is this Henry Stevens related to your friend in any way?

vespasian

vespasian Report 30 Aug 2011 18:37

Astra,

His name came from a sheet of paper that my friend had had for some considerable time. He dug it out when he learned that I was researching my tree.

OK thanks.
So where did his name come from. I know you are doing this for a friend but his name must have come from somewhere.

He didn't die until 1939 but I can't locate him in 1911.
