Too much of a coincidence that her husband was William Henry too.

Perhaps she simply made up a father.
In which case your dad probably should have been registered as Parkhouse

Glynis

Glynis Report 8 Sep 2011 22:35

no it says surname and maiden name of mother, lillian frances scrase formerly parkhouse, but she was born scrase and married a parkhouse, so i presume she went back to using scrase when her husband died, yes i do this is so confusing

So she has Parkhouse as her surname in the mother column, and Scrase as her surname in the informant column! I suggest you give up, and book yourself into the nearest rest home. You need a month's retreat after this one!

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 8 Sep 2011 22:16

The informant is column 7. However I think it depends whether you have a 'long' or 'short' cert. I only have one type of cert so not sure.

just noticed on the birh cert of my father, he was born at 17 george street barry wales, and yet lillian scrase and william henry scrase were living at number 11 george street, do you think she could of just made up a name or would the father have to of been there for him to go on the birth cert

Glynis Report 8 Sep 2011 22:05

only gordon was parkhouse after william parkhouse death, he always thought he was gordon pero like his brother stan, it was when he was getting married he found out he was not gordon pero but named gordon parkhouse, so wonder who his dad was as well, where would it say the informant on the birth cert, i have it in front of me but cant see who the informant was

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 8 Sep 2011 21:49

Curiouser and curiouser! So the younger boys called themselves Parkhouse even though they were born after William's death.

Who was the informant on your father's birth cert?

yes i know my fathes siblings they were, walter parkhouse born 1915, norman parkhouse born 1919, then my dad arthur john scrase, then stanley pero born 1926 i think then there was gordon parkhouse born about 1928

Ozibird Report 8 Sep 2011 21:41

Pm from Glynis - yes thats what i think, william henry parkhouse had died, so who is my fathers dad, is he realy william henry scrase, or could he of lied on the birth cert it says the address where they were living as well when my father was born it was barry in wales

My answer - Well your father wouldn't have lied about his birth cert because he wouldn't have been old enough to have registered himself (chuckle, chuckle).

Do you know any of your father's siblings? What did they call themselves, Parkhouse or Scrase?

Ozi

Update: Or are you saying that William Henry Scrase registered the birth?

Mike * Report 8 Sep 2011 21:36

It would seem your Nan got pregnant after the death of her husband.

Possibly a cousin or disatnt relation ( unless Scrase was a common name in those parts maybe)

Glynis Report 8 Sep 2011 21:30

i dont know, but william parkhouse died in 1921 and my father was not born till 1923 so william parkhouse was def not the father

However your father was always called Scrase seemingly, so it's not just a case of surnames being the wrong way around, is it?

Ozi

Glynis

Glynis Report 8 Sep 2011 21:19

there must be some mistake as her maiden name was scrase and she married a parkhouse, and on my dads birh cert it says arthur john scrase, father william henry scrase

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 8 Sep 2011 21:17

It looks like William H died, and your father was born after the death.
