Maureen if you condense those copies and pastes up and take out the unimportant things and sort the things that get muddled when you copy ... they are so much easier to read !

for instance

WRIGHT, Harriet Lodger F 9 1842 Seamer Heanor Derbyshire

Justin here is a very old thread about the surname spelling

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/antcliffe/thread/620803

'I am searching for more details on Jane Antcliffe. She was born in c1834 in Nottinghamshire (Broadholme/Harby/North Clifton area) and was the daughter of William Antcliffe (a labourer). In 1857 she married my gr gr gr grandfather William Franklin in Thorney Parish Church, Notts. They had a witness of Edward Antcliffe. There seems to be a lot of confusion over the spelling of her surname it could be Antcliffe, Antcliff, Ancliffe or Ancliff! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kristian'

many surnames had changeable spelling in the 1800s :-)

Spelling be darned-I'm partial to this one:
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about William Ancliff
Name: William Ancliff
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1868
Registration district: Basford
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume: 7b
Page: 119

Marriages Dec 1862
Ancliffe William Basford 7b 204
Wright Harriet Basford 7b 204

It looks to me as though Harriet was born as a Wright and then her mother married a Knight.
