The writing is shocking and all abbreviated, but he was a farmer and was travelling with Geo age 12 Tho (or Jno) age 24 and Geo age 20.

Who might you have expected him to travel with?

The family were from Frieston in Lincolnshire and yes, MarieCeleste, I expect them to be travelling with brothers. George aged 12 is definitley a brother but not sure who the other two are - maybe cousins?! Can I ask you to possible forward me a origional copy if I pm you my email?

And yes the 1871 is definitley them - James wife died in 1869 so he didn't wait long to emmigrate. Unless, he did so before she died, but family lore states he went after her death.

Can you spot him on the passenger lists?

Oh wow! Lots of new info! Yes the 1871 and 1891 seem to be them!

Thank for James Broughton's passenger list but that isn't him I don't think! Age is out as is a his wife Hannah! I definitley know he died in March 1880, so the death index must be him!
