Yvonne...Dont know if this is James A....

I had a thought that perhaps the James A (1851 Census) b Leeds Yorks was in fact "Leeds" Kent"....

There was a James A Barber b 1848 (Kent) but cant find parents names..however the following is him 1881....

(There is also a "James Barber" b 1848 (Kent) but the following does not appear to be the same person)

Household:

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability
James A. BARBER Head M Male 33 Maidstone, Kent, England Farmer Of 25 Acres
Emma BARBER Wife M Female 34 London, London, Middlesex, England
Alexander J. BARBER Son Male 7 London, London, Middlesex, England Scholar
Ellen A. BARBER Daur Female 5 London, London, Middlesex, England Scholar
Arther G. BARBER Son Male 3 Isle Sheepy

Ha ha I know it's just getting silly now . .
I even put Alexander Barber into google this morning and it brought me back to this thread! Oh my!...
I really hope this person replies, but I've a feeling they won't as they did'nt read my other messege just unlocked the tree...

Eringobragh1916 Report 12 Oct 2011 23:05

Evening Yvonne...
Helen would normally be Helena if written in Latin in a Catholic Baptism/ Marriage Register so no great difference there....
There must be a key to open the lock somewhere..!!

vonniekatjak Report 12 Oct 2011 22:50

Ok, to update, I have contacted a chap on this site who has Alexander Cricket
Barber and Helen Manning on his tree!
I do hope he replies....
Also They were both Catholic and the church that Alexander was listed as his birthplace is the catholic church used by the army barracks at Ipswitch!
other than that still no further records found....
Does anyone know Catholics use a latin name ?
Just a thought for the mother's name Eleanor (Helen?) above.
1881 census lists Helen as Dublin.
But I also found those details on a Northern Irelend strays record?

Hi, Helen is my Great Great Great Grandmother.
She came to light on Sunday when a few of us on here were trying to locate
My Grt, Grt. Grandma's maiden name. However , at the same time I had a contact from a match on here who told me her maiden name was Barber.
So then we found the family.
Then Lindsey found a Family tree link For Alex. Crickett Barber and Helen Manning. As did Chris earlier on this thread.
I honestly don't know how they get that info. sorry.

Eringobragh1916 Report 11 Oct 2011 13:11

Yvonne....Where does "Helen" fit into your tree and how did you connect the family to the Tree on Ancestry......?

I have never used that type of "facility" so am a complete novice in that respect.

"Walmer" is a placename in Kent...!! Doh.....!!

Thanks Potty! feels a bit strange typing that....
I,ve tried miliatry births and only my Great Great
Grandma Sarah is listed and they don't put maiden name that early (?)
I found 88 Helen Mannings in one county in Ireland last night several right time scale but no links to children or husband.

Potty

Potty Report 11 Oct 2011 12:35

A possible for Susannah as the tree mentioned above has her b London, even though the census says Kent. Possible Benjamin and her POBs are the wrong way round:

Births Dec 1847 (>99%)
BARBER Susannah Westminster 1 391

I think FMP has Military births - perhaps somebody with access could check the other children on there.

Hi .. I'm not sure what the "walmer" bit is , that came from Chris above. I may have found a marriage last night Ipswich I believe which seems to tie in with
the family history on the mens side , but I have no more credits left on that site to view it.
Also I have'nt obtained documents. Where would I get those? My information for Alex. was found on here yesterday .
And no, I haven't tried Scotland.
Thanks so much for your help today though it's much appriciated.
I rapidly running out of funds and ideas!
