Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Nov 2011 19:39

There is a marriage of an Ada Buckland in 1891 I wonder if she left him and just called herself Yapp.

I think it is just the person reading the writing that has it wrong. The initial G is nothing like the Y on Yapp.

Only under the name Gapp incase of mispelt surname. Have just searched incase Ada married twice and was Gapp before becoming Yapp but no.

Hi Fox,

Have you found them on the 1901 then???

Fox

Fox Report 5 Nov 2011 19:02

1901 census confusing. Birth dates and one child right but my Alfred is Alfred George not F. Also thought Ada was born Streatham but census states Trentham? Good grief .......

ok, Ginny & Shirley seem to have found the right person except daughters birth certificate, Rose Ellen born 1902 shows mother as being Ada nee Buckland, not Rose and living Luna Street ,Chelsea. Cannot find death of a Rose Jupp or Yapp. Cannot find any of them on a census prior to 1911.
Any help appreciated.

The 1901 on FMP (posted on page i) has them transcribed as Yapp not Gapp. The one Mel has posted is the same one but the transcriber has wrongly put the name as Gapp

There's a tree on Ancestry and it says her name was Ada Buckland. No marriage recorded. All the children are right though.

Don't think there is a second marrige to a Rose. he states married 17 years on the 1911 census. think he was calling Ada ,Rose.

For instance my paternal gran married twice. Her name was Emma Ann. her hubby registered the births of their 2 eldest children post 1911. He called her Annie so thats what he put on the childrens birth certs.as mums name , plus too on the eldest ones cert he gave her maiden name as her first married name .on the second one he put her correct maiden name. Its only because I knew the info . that I was able to pick them up

Thanks to all regarding Ada. Maybe second marriage? Feel quite confident now.

Yes, thank you, will apply for birth certificate of daughter Rose Ellen.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Oct 2011 11:04

You need to buy one of the childrens birth certs and that will tell you the mothers maiden name

Fox

There is no difficulty in finding out the maiden name of the mother............the birth cert of ANY of her children will give you that info

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 28 Oct 2011 11:02

Wonder whether as they called a daughter Ada them mum was known as Rose to distinguish her from the daughter.

One of the childrens birth certs will give mums actual name
