hello,I was going by surname Rowson on Eliza Mcgee marriage cert. to Thomas Birchall in 1914(Elizas dad being Thomas Rowson deceased)Her agebeing 46 years in oct.1914,making her birth 1868.Therefore i found the Staffordshire birth for 1868.
Eliza died in nov. 1923 age 54?
Found Eliza in 1871 census with Thomas and Eliza Rowson age 2?Then in 1881 census age 12?So will look into the info you have given and her birth year. Thanks for that :-D

Can I ask again
How do you know the eliza we are looking for was born in Stoke on trent.?Do you know that she is from there or is it that the birth date matches and the fathers name on the wedding cert with the fathers name on the census of 1881.

Could Rowson have been mistrancribed as rawson on a marriage to McGee?

I looked at Hannah Davenport one baptised st Johns Longton 18april 1858 mother elizabeth Davenport.
Then there is a death of an elizabeth davenport 1q1861. Hannah's mother seems not to be married,.
therefore for hannan to be a niece of thomas, thomas must have married a davenport- so eliza ( senior)nee davenport? I couldn't spot a marriage for them either

I find it strange that eliza was 44 in 1871and had two children 2 or under and no older ones.
albert died a year old in december quarter 1871.
all very interesting but getting us no near the mcgee connection

seems Eliza wasnt a Pickle after all!Think i will try and get her birth cert.will verify her parents names. How she got from Rowson to Mcgee is a mystery. Not unless her real father was a Mcgee and Rowson step father..........kind regards to all :-) :-)

on 4 oct 1881 a charles allerton married sarah wass aged 36 in dresden ( almost Longton- borders it)
but it seems that it was a different charles allerton.
eliza's uncle had father thomas allerton - yes another thomas and the one who married sarah had father samuel

scarey

scarey Report 15 Nov 2011 18:02

It seems that charles allertonb stoke 1838 was still in longton in 1891. but again I don't have full access to the census.

perhaps a view of that census will show if either eliza is still with him.
He may have taken over the fathers role for eliza

scarey Report 15 Nov 2011 17:55

How do you know that Eliza was born in longton staffs? and that the censusof 1881 was her family?

scarey

scarey Report 15 Nov 2011 17:51

where is elizas mother eliza in 1891 and where is her uncle charles allerton b 1838
perhaps eliza is with them with a mistranscribed name. It has happened before.I didn't find a death for eliza senior in the stoke on trent area, so perhpas they moved
