There is a Henry here and a Vera but she was born in 1911

I have removed that because it is incorrect.

She was Vera Frederica born 1907

Thanks for that choccy , im not sure as vera and harry should be brother and sister , but its the right area as gramp was born in swindon .

Its like they never existed or does genes not have all the details do you think .

It looks as if the Harry Cook that Choccy found , nephew of Richard and Florence Materface could well be your grandfather because Florence was Florence Hughes before her marriage. The Ancestry tree shows that his mother was Kate Hughes.

Marriages Jun 1882
Hughes Florence Isabella E J Highworth 5a 32
MATERFACE Richard Henry Highworth 5a 32

Interestingly Vera Materface, who is the same age as Vera Frederica Cook , does not appear to have her birth indexed in the freeBMD.

thank you so much , do you really think that it is the family , that would be a new line , thank you to salve , ive never been able to go further back than my gramp , yes gramps mum was kate huges before she married freerick cook .
i did wonder at one time if there was illigitamate children as there always seemed to be a secretcy to it all , genes has not help apart from you kind people .

nelly67

nelly67 Report 24 Nov 2011 14:29

Adeline

Adeline Report 24 Nov 2011 14:42

Have you got a date for the marriage of Frederick Cook to Kate Hughes?

FMP has transcribed Materface as Waterfall in the 1901 census.

Did you note the address that the Materfaces were living at in 1901?

1 Groundwell Road, Swindon which is where the tree on Ancestry states that Alfred Henry was born in 1908

nelly67

nelly67 Report 24 Nov 2011 16:29

HI,

I found myself wondering if Vera 'Materface', was actually born Vera Frederica Cook, and possibly informally adopted?

It just seemed a co-incidence the two cousins had the same first name and age, were both born in Swindon, yet there is seemingly no record of Vera Materface's birth.

But maybe I'm reading too much into it.
