If this is the service record (I cant see any other it could be?) it doesnt mention his mother....maybe I do have the wrong record or am getting confused!

Could you post the correct one that shows his moms details

NOK is his wife Bridget Carny (although Im not sure of her maiden name?) and two children Bridget & Jeramiah

British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920
Name: Michael Connor
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1890
Age at enlistment: 24
Document Year: 1914
Regimental Number: 2594
Regiment Name: 18 R I Regiment
Number of images: 3

Rootgatherer makes a very good point and is trying to ensure that you have a tree that is correct as I do too.

Edit: The address on the record says No 8 Hospital Lane Enniscorthy Co Wexford

Ginny....The Michael above (WW1) is I believe the son of Jer.and Eliz. 1911 Census..
He is at home but listed as in RIR...

Gee

Gee Report 1 Dec 2011 19:23

OK I think I get that, I thought his mom was listed on the record

There are other Michael Connor(s) in Wexford which could make it confusing!

Blonde you still need to stick to the facts though, as the marriage Root posted cant be correct if they were born in 1861. I know people may have married young but surley not at 12/13yrs

Maybe if you (Blonde) posted the info that is factual and we worked back, that might help?

Never give up

I agree she needs to clarify some of her details as there are also Connors living on Hospital Lane ...not least a Philip and family at No 10 (1911)

Hi Everyone, may i butt in here and say that people here in Ireland up to about 1960ish could marry at age (Legal) boys 14 years old and girls at 12 years old, and as Cash, Connors and Moorehouse families were Tinsmiths, more than likely they did marry at that age.
Regards,
Betty.

Hi Betty

Youre not butting in at all.

Could you post the legal ref to this as I would be very interested as my family are from Ireland and it may well help me

Marriage Age
Until 1972 when a law was passed that both men and women could not wed until the age of 16, Irish females could legally be wed at age 12 and males at age 14. While most women married around the age of 20, pre-famine brides were often younger.

Copied from

Then scroll down to
Customs in Ireland
scroll down to Marraige age to read.
Now the legal age is 18 years.

One of my friends married after leaving National School which is usually 12/13 years old.She married in 1964 and is still happly married.
