Hi Everyone,

Looking for any information on my 2nd Great Grandmother LOUISA ELLIS born abt 1859 in Constantinople (listed as a British Subject).
Her parents were George Henry Samuel Ellis and Phoebe (have come across Phoebe IBRUBER- BUT TO ME DOES SOUND RIGHT).

In the 1911 census it lists her with husband with 3 Children still at home... It also States that they had 11 Children born alive, 8 living and 3 died... I've managed to find 9 of these children( Louisa 1879, Ada 1881, Lily 1882, Alice May 1886, William Herbert 1887, Mabel 1890, Amelia 1892, John 1895 and Harry 1897...

Thank you in advance for any help x

Have had a look on ancestry have attached 2 bapt records for you perusal

first one is a Phoebe Imber this age tallies with the Phoebe on 1881 census married to a Moyes? with Walter a boarder.

The surname IMBER can quite easily be transcribed incorrectly to LRUBER.

second one is for a George Henry Samuel Ellis this age range would tally with having children from 1850's.

I have also got Louisa Birth certificate stating She was born 3 October 1859 Hasskeuy
name of father GEORGE HENRY SAMUEL ELLIS
name of mother PHOEBE LRUBER
rank of prof of father ENGINEER
informant GEORGE ELLIS engineer ASQUOI
registered 27 Jan 1960
Birth within the district of the British CONSULATE at CONSTANTINOPLE

Tracey Report 28 Dec 2011 00:21

Nothing tallies up
Birth 1859
Marriage 1879 (making her 20 but says she was a minor)
1911 says she is 50( so if she is 50 in 1911 that would make her 32 at time of marriage

CONFUSED. COM lol x

jax

jax Report 28 Dec 2011 00:26

20 would be a minor back then, 21 was the age you needed to be without needing permission to marry

I think you have not done your sums right she would have been 18 census's can be a year or so out also
