Hi There i did :-)

I've had a look and i'm not convinced it says Summerfield tho?

I cannot also find anything else other than what we have already established.

If i were you when you visit Devon goto the local Library to Newton Abbot, they will be able shed some more light on it.

Have you considered calling the registry office? They might be able to relook at the original entry for you and tell you what they believe it to say (again local knowledge helps) The registry office will have the original entry, the GRO have a copy of the original books.

well... it's hard to know where to start.

The family i have thrown up, if the father was a Verger, there may be a scandal printed somewhere?

His daughter being an unmarried mother would not have done his reputation any good.

You could always start at the Library and search for the address in the ER's. Altho only males were listed, it might throw up some clues... or even the family history mgiht be there.

You've not really got much to go on, however the Library would be your best bet. Someone local might know what the address is on the birth cert.

I think you should pursue the address a bit - what have you got to lose! I can't find a Summerfield Terrace as such 1911, could it be anything else?
