I'm Dolly's Granson. She was actually known as Doreen Shingler and had 6 children Keith, Maureen, Sandra (my Mom) , Rita, Carolyn and Barry
Keith sadly died several years ago of a heart complaint but all the others are still alive and kicking.

Under Search Trees, Carolyn has a Lawrence Miller born 1912 in Halifax. Perhaps worth contacting to see if she has information.

are you sure she is the same family?

Seems a bit close in birth to Lily who was registered Sept qtr 1913.
She could have been born late May and registered in early July ie within the 6 week period allowed for registration however Dolly Pearson/ Shingler was born in Jan 1914 so not even 9 months after Lily ????

Perhaps you need to purchase a copy of the birth registration to ensure she is a member of your family.

Dolly Shingler sounds if she could be the one, just don't understand why she doesn't show up any where.
On the listing after the Father was killed all the family that I know about was listed
Lily
Isabella my mum
Robert only born 1918
so if Dolly still lived with them she would have been there.

another death had cropped up that looks more likely

Her husbands death in 1944 would tie with her remarrying 2 years later

Getting the birth cert for Dolly would confirm her birth date

Although her birth shows in the Mar qtr of 1913 she could have been born from mid Nov 1913 . You have 6 weeks to register a birth so end year births often went over to Jan the following year to be registered.

Mt father was born Dec 1907 and hid mum registered him in Jan 1908 so he comes under Mar qtr 1908 GRO ref

Dorothy Shingler was born Dec 1913 so her birth could well have been reg in Jan 1814

It does seem though a bit close for Lily and Dolly if she was born in Dec 1913

You said nothing was known about Dolly by the famliy which made me wonder if there had been a rift of some sort .

Would a 4 year old been mentioned in a family listing

There isnt a death for her pre 1918.

couldn't have been Dorothy Shingler born 1913. Lily Pearson was born 1913
Dolly as 1914 So can't have had a fall out in the family she would have only been 4 when her father was killed

It is the sister of Lily Pearson, who was my aunt. I have no trace of Dolly .Looking for a death because when Father was killed 1918 she wasn't
on the list of relatives.
