Thanks for those insights on Mr B Lund, whatever were they thinking of with his name?!
On my Mums side (maiden name Ridge) there's a child just called Ridge Ridge...guess they had such big families they ran out of names to be bothered with!
I had to get a copy of a marriage certificate from 1986 and that came through wrongly transcribed ( I had a photocopy of the original so I knew for a fact it was wrong) so really sometimes there is no hope of trusting what you read!

1891 Thornhill D3 > 36
Head of house Hinchcliffe

This poor guy has been Belford,Belpas,Bey,Belbred

Mary Report 28 Jan 2012 14:28

I think this is Belford's death.
Belfrid Lund born @ 1857 died Dewsbury Jan 1910 age 57 9b 389.

William and Ann in Dewsbury 1891 with daughter Caroline born 1871.
1901 caroline (Carrie) with brother Charles 1867 and wife Rhoda 1876 nee John son.

Trying to find Belford 1891/1901 is proving difficult.

Yes that is a bit odd, unless it was the guy filling the certificate that got it wrong.
I have checked all the census's for William and Ann who I think were Josephs parents and he is 1851/61/Agricutural labourer 71 farm labourer amd 1881 general labourer.
1891 in Dewsbury no proffesion.

But it was determined that in 1881 Joseph (Jas Lund)
Sarah Jane Lund born Hull
Bey Lund relative (Belford) son of William and Ann)
were the correct family.

Oh and yes William Lund is listed as alive

Sarah-Jane

Sarah-Jane Report 28 Jan 2012 12:33

The address for Joseph was Chalk Street Stockton

Jane Wards father is listed as John Ward Lawson Street Stockton also an Engine driver.
Hi Mary

Witness was Annie Ward and (the mark of) William Jackson

Marriage was at the Registry Office in Stockton.

As a (nee) Lund maths was never my strong point either so maybe I can blame the genes!

It's the engine driver bit that seems odd

Hi Sarah-Jane,I wouldn't worry too much about the age matching.
After all his age seemed to vary on the census returns.

What was his address on certificate, was his dad alive and who were the witnesses?

Got Joseph Lund and Jane Wards Marriage certificate

It's not looking like the same Joseph this one was 21 in 1873 (mine would have been 25) and although his Father is a William this William is a Engine Driver and mine is a general labourer. (as far as i can see)

The only thing is that this Joseph is a plater in the iron works and that is right....tricky stuff this!

Mary Report 23 Jan 2012 14:57

Certificate arrived confirming we have the right Joseph born C1848 died 1913 in Thornaby on Tees.
In attendance at the death was his Son Joseph. who was living at 14 Metcalfe Street Norton on Tees (this is my great grandmothers parents home)
So thats him found! thank you.

As to Mary Moss and He ever marrying in it is looking doubtful I guess I should now get the marriage certificate for Joseph and Sarah Jane Ward to confirm their marriage (Fathers names on certificate).

Any thoughts on Louisa/Lavinia Lunds birth I cannot find her anywhere other than the 1891 census listed as being around 7 years old.
Ive tried under the name Moss too just in case!

I did notice "Patchem" mention her marriage but I'm not sure its the same Lass.

I also think that Mary Annie Lund and Mary Ann Moss born 1881 are the same child registered twice M.A Moss Jan/feb/mar M.A Lund April/May/June

Otherwise it seems really odd that Parents (of Mary Ann Moss 1864) would name a child the same as one they had already....unless because Mary Ann Moss (1864) was pregnant with M.A Lund while living at home and it was her parents way of smitting her when their child MA Moss was born...who knows!

Thank you once again
x

Connection.
1901 6,Spring street Thornaby (Postcode TS17 6JX)
Joseph Lund labourer a widow born Pontefract @ 1845.

1911 12 Fancoat St Middlesbrough
John Henry Scott 1884
Elizabeth Scott born 1885/6 nee Lund married 1908
Leanora Scott 1910
Joseph Lund 1845 father in law.

Death for Joseph Lund 1848 died Middlesbrough 1913.

There is no record of Elizabeth Lund 188/6 in Thornaby but Elizabeth Moss 1885 in Stockton.
There also is no birth for Joseph Lund 1845 in Pontefract.

So if Joseph Lund 1887's dad is still alive in 1910 is the above Joseph 1845 one in the same man???

Thanks Mary.
There could be another thread unraveling here as my Nana's maiden name was Ward.
They came from Ireland which Ive traced but in the 1800's they were living in Stockton-on-Tees.
Hummmmmm!
