~~~Secret Red ^^ Squirrel~~~ **007 1/2** Report 28 Jan 2012 22:12
I couldn't easily spot him in 1911 but I'm probably not as proficient as some people here.
I've found the following marriages on Lancashire bmd for people called Josephine who married someone with the surname Williams in Liverpool but is probably too much of a long shot. (years 1862-1907)
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1891
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
WILLIAMS Frank H BRUMMAGE Josephine H Walton, St. Mary Liverpool 2012WD/16/13
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1893
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
WILLIAMS Henry CLYNE Josephine Edge Hill, St. Mary Liverpool 2043WD/14/155
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1896
WILLIAMS John KAY Josephine Toxteth Park, St. Clement Liverpool 2064TP/4/207
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1906
Edit: Have you found him on the 1911 census yet?
It's worth a try - if you do strike lucky (unfortunately not lucky for him) they sometimes have a photograph albeit of newspaper quality.
However, it would depend on the family whether there is an article or not.
Best of luck...I hope you find him.
Hi flowers, I thought you may be interested in this site at some point.
http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/fallenheroes/
Perhaps you or your friend can email them and see if there is an article which mentions James and Josephine and possibly the address you mentioned?
Her late Grandma ( his sister) told her all about him many years ago, she only knows james' mother was called Josephine Williams.
Could you perhaps ask your friend how she knows her grandmother had a brother called James?
Puzzled as to why she does not know the name of the parents.
I did say it was futile Margee
I thought it was the 2nd one because of 1918, thought there was only 2 listed.
MargaretM
MargaretM Report 28 Jan 2012 21:37
There are 277 J. Williams killed in 1918.
Thank you for looking, it is so sad, all those young lives lost.
MargaretM
MargaretM Report 28 Jan 2012 21:35
Ann, surely it's an exercise in futility listing all of the J. Williams from Liverpool who were killed in WW1. There's probably hundreds, maybe a thousand.
And, Flowers, how can you possibly say it looks like the 2nd. one? No age is given and no mother's name.
AnnCardiff
AnnCardiff Report 28 Jan 2012 21:33
there are 848 J Williams' so it's a bit futile really - some of them do give full names but motly they are just J Williams - it's heartbreaking looking at them all - I had an uncle died in WW1 - David John Williams - he was about 19 years old
james' mother was called Josephine Williams, not sure of his fathers forename. x
