As far as I am aware Edwina is still alive though doesn't have any contact with her nephew (family feud also the same with Dorothea's son Paul no one speaks to each other). Edwina married in Hendon Middlesex

Do you know if Edwina died as Robinson, or is there any likelihood that she could have remarried at any time? In addition, any idea of area?

Going to send for Edwina's mariaige cert to see what her age is. I am beginning to think that Dorothea never married. The only surviving ancestor is John and his sister, Wendy has died. Could someone please try and find a death for Edwina A Robinson, as yet cannot find one but yet John seems to think she is dead

have you looked at CLARK......how old was Edwina when she married.this will close the gap for a Clarke/Clark birth,,,,,,there is every chance all is not what it appears on paper and Dorothea was never infact married but to had to account for Edwina to Mr Gower,,,,,,so may have made up a previous marriage?

So was Dorothea her real name or derived from Dora E Clarke?

again church records have been known to be wrong,,,,more so if there is more than one event to copy out for the GRO...and the vicar had a verger do it.!

Thye married in the Parish church Ampthill. Just found the marriage of Dorothea's 1st child (prior to her marriage to Francis William Gower in 1936) Edwina, Edwina Annie married Derek Robinson in 1953, Hendon, Middlesex and Edwina's surname is Clarke. Trouble is can't find a birth for Edwina Annie Clarke prior to gthe Gower marriage. Edwina is the stepsister of Wendy Marjorie Hickson Gower, Dorothea's 2nd child.

where did the Gower marriage take place,,,,,,registery office or church?

There are a few Conington families in Stamford on the 1911 census but not seeing a William or a barrister. They seem to be mostly butchers.

Any family link between Gladys and William Tyroe ?who seem absent from death records that I can see on other other site.....no marriage for them as couple ,no births as single people,,,,,Tyroe==Irish?


There isnt a death for William T/Thomas W .Conington/Connington/Canington/Cannington...maybe he wasnt born here.?

There is a incoming passenger list for a -- Wm Conington from New York 1891 to LIverpool age 19 a student --?

If he died after 1941 it wouldn't be on Ancestry .co .uk yet.

Picking at straws here, not in the right area but the Conington name doesn't bring up many matches on FMP, so have you looked at this entry from 1911 Census?

Both Dorothea and Francis were living in Ampthill at the time of their marriage and it doesn't show her father? William Thomas Conington as being deceased

Did it say her dad was alive on the marriage cert and what was her address at time of marriage.
