Hi all,

A strange thing has happened with this family, I suppose it has also happened with other families doing research!

I have found the marriage of a EDWARD DICKER who married Susan Malone 9th February, 1857, St. Catherine's Parish, Dublin

The son I was looking for originally, named Alfred Joseph, I have found his birth registered in Paddington, N.S.W. - Parents names were Edward Dicker and Susan

On the birth certificate of Alfred, it states that Edward was a Sergeant in the 77th Regiment

On the birth certificate of his 2nd child, a daughter Emma, it says that her parents are George Watson and Susan, his occupation is now a bootmaker!

Does anyone have any ideas why he would have changed his name completely.

Now to try & find some information on Edward's family. On some of his children's certificates, there is mention of him being born in Wiltshire and Bershire

Thanks, Joy

Ozibird

Yes, they are children of the family - I have all the other details on the children who were born in N.S.W. plus the children who were born in Victoria. I am only looking for Alfred Joseph's birth as well as when his parents arrived in the Colony.

Thanks

Hi Joy - what were George and Susan Matilda's birth years?

Distinct possibility, if I can find when his parents arrived, that would make it a lot easier

Hi all,

Can anyone please help me find

George Watson and his wife Susan Matilda nee Malone, leaving the U.K. between 1857 and 1860.

They were supposedly married in Dublin 19th February, 1857, this date is on their daughters birth certificate who was born in New South Wales in 1860.

Also, they had a son Alfred Joseph who was born 1858 in New South Wales, but as yet cannot find his record.

Any information, would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks, Joy
