Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 9 Send Message	Hi can anyone please help ,I have found evrything relating to my great grandmother in the searches apart from her birth Her name was Matilda Aldous all the census' have her down as born in Stradbroke Suffolk 1864 or 1865 the name Aldous has been wrongly transcribed as Aldons and even Aldours on some censuses. So if anyone can please help me with her birth I would be so grateful Kind regards Karen

	there is a Matilda Aldous christening in Stradbroke 31st July 1864 father Thomas, but the mother is Phebe.

Member Since: July 2008 Posts: 18,042 Send Message	There is an unsourced tree on Ancestry that has her dob as 31 Jul 1864, but it has no parents for her. EDIT: There are numerous trees have that date - yours is one of them. The reason why no birth can be found is quite likely that it was never registered. There were no penalties for not registering births until around 1874, so many before that time just went unrecorded.

	Agnes M was born in 1866 Matilda was baptised in 1864 I cannot see how that could be her
