Hi, been a while since I was on here but I am still trying to find proof that Hilda Round is my birth grandmother. My mother was adopted in 1928 and we only have her mother's name and that she was from Sheffield - probably Tinsley. Her adopted parents kept in touch for a while but the last news they had was that she had moved to Barnsley. From 1911 census I now know Hilda had a brother and sister - Eva born around 1906 and Leonard born around 1910. Her death in Barnsley 1991 was registered by her neice, Sheila Round. If anyone is connected in any way I would love to hear from you. Everything seems to indicate this is the correct Hilda Round who is my grandmother but I would love to be able to say for certain and find any descendants of the family. |

Did you try 'search trees' to see if anyone has matches for the Round family? |

Theres such a big gap between the 1911 and mums birth in 1928 that the family could have been anywhere. |

I know where she was adopted but have never heard about descendants giving praise to James and Maria. On to Ancestry now. |

Jan, where did you search on Ancestry? I am so excited by this. |

Just select 'search all records'. I just put Hilda Round for name and Rotherham in keyword box. Tick all as exact, and the above will turn up. |

I'm guessing it's from the Troop family but that's good as they clearly know about my mum and her mum. I'll see what happens. |

I'll keep working on tying the addresses together. I think Hilda must still having been living at home. My mum told me she was a secretary, quite unusual back then. The Hilda I have found was a retired medical secretary when she died. Okay there would be loads of secretaries but it's another link. I do have a photo of Hilda which i will try and get onto the tree. Thank you again for all your help. |
