Magic wand needed

i've looked everywhere for the marriage/ birth of Samuel hallem going off where his wife sarah was born and their children I would think the marriage was in Manchester ??

Ivy

Ivy Report 1 Apr 2012 20:35

1881 census suggests:

Samuel Hallam
son of Thomas, Kozinch [edit - looking at the image, I would say this is Keziah]
born abt 1854 in Whaley Bridge, Cheshire, England
living at Newton, Lancashire

which is a reasonable fit with 1891 census:

Samuel Hallam
married toSarah
born abt 1859 Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire, England
Head of household
living at Newton, Lancashire

and the 1901 above

Sylann

Sylann Report 1 Apr 2012 20:36

I've also run into difficulty with the censuses for Samuel

1911 born Whaley Bye darbyshire
1901 born Whaley Bridge Darbyshire
1891 b Whaley Bridge darbyshire

Then I found one for 1881 but it says whaley Bridge Cheshire ??

Ivy

Ivy Report 1 Apr 2012 20:39

Whaley Bridge is very close to the Cheshire border

Sylann

Sylann Report 1 Apr 2012 20:40

That is the one I was looking at Ivy

occupation is warehouse porter others it said warehouse man so that's almost the same

It's this Cheshire and Derbyshire

Ivy

Ivy Report 1 Apr 2012 20:40

The age on the image on 1881 is not easy to read, but looking at the gaps in the children's ages, I'd read it as 22, so born about 1859

Sylann Report 1 Apr 2012 20:42

Right thank you Ivy

Now it's finding out Sarah's maiden name ?/

Sylann

Sylann Report 1 Apr 2012 20:50

panic over i think I've found the marriage

1881 Prestwich

Samuel hallem & Sarah Bent

Ivy

Ivy Report 1 Apr 2012 20:56

- which fits with William Bent age 73 living with the couple in 1891.

Mary

Mary Report 1 Apr 2012 20:58

Thats right and on 1891 census her dad William Bent born manchester 1818 is with them.

Poor Samuel's mum in 1861 Hegia
1871 Rezia and Keziah what it should be is a lovely name.

Keziah Williamson 1837 born Taxal Cheshire parents Samuel and Elizabeth.
Keziah Williamson married in macclesfield cheshire A/M/J 1858 to Thomas Hallam.
Thomas hallam baptised by Joseph and matilda in 1833.

Thank you I didn't see the 1891 census I was wondering if Keziah ??? was Samuels mother it would make her 17 But as you have put her name down for the different censuses it would appear to be right

Thank you

Ivy

Ivy Report 1 Apr 2012 21:09
