I am trying to fing information on my relative James Maughan born the 12th
February 1903. He was in the Coldstrem Guards in his younger years, but
he left with his wife for Australia ,and I would love to know if anyone knows
if he has any relatives in Australia as I would be so happy if I could make some
contact with them.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jane.

Thanks to Sylvia and Chris for the replies on James Maughan, I have him born
on the 12thFebruary 1903 at New Herrington, County Durham, then he moved
with his family to Penshaw, County Durham, his father was also James born
1879 and mother Esther Jane Stockdale born 1879 in Ryhope. I new James and saw him allot in my younger years but lost touch after my Mam died and
he and his wife left for Australia, and I don't know the date of when he left, but
would dearly love to know if he has any living relatives in Australia.

Hi
What was James wife name and approx what time frame did they leave??
There are other James MAUGHAN born 1903 in Australia..(edit to remove Stewart as I realise this was an error)

EDIT..
Did he marry Letitia REYNOLDS in 1950??
There is a possible arrival
James Maughan and Letitia Maughan arrived Sydney per FAIRSKY, 13 August 1963

Thanks for your help on James I do have the information on his mam, dad and family and we were a close family when small and I saw allot of James
but after my mam died contact with James was lost as he and his wife had gone to Australia, and when I started looking into my family History I started
to wonder if James had living relatives in Australia, the thing is I don't have
a date for when he went to Australia and I cannot remember and the older
members of my family that would have been able to tell me are no longer here. I am just clutching at strawa that someone might be able to help.

LOL sorry cupcakes,
I wasn't being ignorant with not posting the state etc.....just the death I posted appears to be the husband of Letitia (the two who arrived in 1963) and without knowing if they are the correct people I didn't want to search/post too much information.

I did ask the OP if Letitia was the correct wife and a timeframe for their leaving England but haven't had a reply as yet.
OP states they left AFTER (her) mum died so was hoping for a clearer idea.

Anyway,,cannot see either of them listed on Ryerson Index and Letitia appears on Electoral Rolls to 1980 (so she must have died after 1980 which is our limit for searching deaths in NSW)

The1963 looks good as Kellie sent message with the arrival in 1963 and also a death of a James Maughan and mentioned what could be Esther,
well that rings afew bells Jimmy's mam was called Esther but I am starting
to wonder if that was also his wife's name, need to ask a round my family
and see if anyone can remember its awful really, but I think he married later
in life so its not looking promising to finding any live relatives if there was any.
Thanks again.
Kind regards
Jane.

(above PM from Jane, have advised her to Post on 'Thread')

Hello Kellie, ermm, sometimes we get a lot of PM's, but just point the Poster to the 'Board' (with instructions how to get there, if they are not sure, as is the case a lot of times!) but as Jane replied earlier, I advised her to post all replies here for maximum help for her, and us!.

Chris :)

Hi Kellie

If you are not interested in PMs, that is fine and your choice.

However, It is most members intention to encourage members to use the boards and not to dissuade them by posting offensive comments.

Please would you remove the offensive comment you made towards Jane in your last post.

Thankyou....PricklyHolly.

BTW....
posting a lookup then contacting replies by PM isn't looked on as good in here...
I didn't do anythig wrong.....just replied...
Jane should have replied in the forum rather than PM to everyone...

I have read the rules for this GR...

Kellie,
You called Jane a nut.
Yes, it is offensive - I would not like to be called a nut, other than by my children.
However, I also hate people replying by pm - because I tend not to read them when using the boards.
